"Mummy, she’s gone...."

Gemma Ballantine is getting ready for work one morning when her eldest child comes running down the stairs saying the words every mother dreads.

The front door is open. And her six-year-old daughter has disappeared. Frantic with fear, Gemma starts a nail-biting search for her little girl.

After what feels like forever, her mother-in-law, Diane, finds Katie wandering lost a few streets away. Relieved to have her youngest child back in her arms, breathing in the sweet scent of her hair, Gemma thinks the nightmare is over.

But then her perfect family starts to fall apart.

And she realizes it’s only just beginning....

From the top ten best-selling author of The Secret Mother and The Child Next Door, this completely addictive psychological thriller of secrets, lies, and betrayal will make you gasp out loud at the heart-stopping final twist. If you loved Gone Girl, The Girl on the Train, and The Sister, this book is for you.

should be titled: "The Perfect Nanny"

I've listened to all of Shalini Boland's books and this is on par with her other work. She is not my favorite author but she knows how to entertain and often you have to just go along with anything far-fetched in her books and this one is no different. The title should've been called something like "The Perfect Nanny" or something along those lines and it is also one of those stories where everything is unraveled at the very end. I prefer books with hints throughout to allow the audience to piece things together and have all the details come together to be relevant. Not bad, a typical story of the author's, but nothing outstanding.

Really good

As the title states... this was good. I’m curious to go back and read the reviews because I can’t imagine a bad one, unless it’s the usual knit picky “far fetched” stuff. It’s fiction... relax. This is good and kept me interested the whole time.

Thriller/Twister

Totally mind turning as well as bottling. It is horrible to know there are true people such as Sadie and Emilia.

Enjoyable book - fast read

I enjoyed this audio book. It was a quick listen and I found myself engrossed in the characters quickly. While the main couple Gemma and Robert should be sickeningly sweet, they are not. You genuinely like them. And the holders are likable and well written as well. Some authors can over do the “cuteness” of the kids. This author finds a happy medium.
The story is good and well narrated. I like the inflection she uses when voicing the mother in law - it’s brilliant. You can picture a “Joan Crawford Dynasty old money character”.
I saw the initial twist coming but it was well brought out. I enjoyed the cafe scene. Bravo Gemma. However the final extra twist ....meh. It was good and a nice idea but I really didn’t care or need it. It came from a place that wasn’t built up enough for me to be invested in it. It however doesn’t ruin the book and neither will I with any spoilers
ENJOY

Creepy but good!

Fun if you like phsycho-mysteries...which I do. Good twisted story. A little beyond credible, but then again that's why I'm reading fiction. Definitely worth the purchase!

Didn’t see that coming...

Another fabulous book by Shalini Boland! I was hooked from the very beginning. The characters were well developed and the twist at the end was completely out of left field. Even if you think you figured it out, you didn’t.

Good book

Was just about getting bored with it and it got very interesting. Just when u think you know who did what someone else is to blame. A lot of back stabbing going on. Enjoyed listening to this book
