Story
Cara Snow is newly divorced, stuck working for a jerky boss at a pet boutique, and dreading her soon-to-be-empty nest with only her beloved corgi for company. Worse still, her ex just got engaged. Doesn’t she deserve some romance, too? Or, at least a date for the Fur Ball. She’s always enjoyed the annual pet rescue gala, but this year her ex will be there with his fiancée. Meanwhile, Cara hasn’t met anyone — other than the irresistible dogs at the boutique’s adoption events. Cara is shocked when her wish to fall for a man as easily as she does for those mutts summons Vincent. His velour track suit, paunchy belly, and tough-guy accent don't exactly fit her childhood image of a fairy godfather. Not exactly on top of his game, he admits to being twenty-five years late.

She fell in love with the island's singular beauty while using it as a setting for two of her novels. In her cozy rented cottage on Chappaquiddick, she's settling in for her first Vineyard winter - complete with a fierce nor'easter on the way, forecast to bring high winds and deep snow. Publisher's summary
Two adoring spouses, Roger and Margaret, lose the loves of their lives and a routine that made them fond and content. They become baffled and find chaos learning to live without the other. Margaret escapes memories by traveling, and Roger keeps the candle lit, recreating memories to last the rest of his lifetime for his daughter, grandchildren, and himself. Margaret is led to Roger after finding typed letters to his beloved with questions, missing her and trying to heal. Both Roger and Margaret bond in understanding and empathy; they develop an enduring friendship as two people searching for life and doing the best they can in their remaining years.
Critic reviews
“The Perfect Kind of Imperfect reaches your heart. You bond with Roger and Margaret as they relive what they had, meet, and reach out to each other. We get to know and love their families, and we get to know and love them. Jackie Adams has a way of writing that touches you deeply and keeps you enchanted. You close...with a tear, and you want to hear more. We hope to meet this author again soon.” (Daniel R. Mandelker, Stamper Professor of Law, Washington University in St. Louis)

Story
In her best-selling memoir North of Normal, Cea wrote with grace about her unconventional childhood - her early years living in a tipi in Alberta with her pot-smoking, free-loving counterculture family. But her struggles do not end when she leaves her family at the age of 13 to become a model. Honest and daring, Nearly Normal reveals the many ways that Cea's unconventional childhood continues to reverberate through the years.

A Sweet & Heartfelt Story & Audible Listen🎧
This is an enjoyable short story, it is original, well written and well told. The realistic storylines are interesting and relatable. A loving couple grows old together, it is never easy for the one left behind after one passes. Getting past the loss, sorrow and heartache is a challenge as well as trying to live a life without your loved one. Support from your family is helpful and making a new friend is as well. I love how Roger and Margaret meet and how they get to know each other. I highly recommend this story for the young and the old. Thank you for this great story! Sometimes life is Perfectly Imperfect!
I listened to the Audible edition, Daniel Mandelker does a nice job narrating and telling the story. He brings the characters and their story to life from the pages to your ears. Thank you for an entertaining listen🎧

The Perfect Kind of Imperfect
It is never easy, loosing a spouse after being together for decades. Both Roger and Margaret are facing that exact situation. The is a sweet story about the friendship that they forge as they both try to move on.
Both the author, Jackie Adams, and the narrator, Daniel Mandelker, did a lovely job with this presentation. An enjoyable listen.
