Publisher's summary

The play, Easter Comes Alive With The Resurrection Story, will bring the story of the Resurrection out of the Bible and into your sanctuary or auditorium. It is a fresh new way to engage people with the truth of the gospel message that Jesus is alive. In the play, twelve people tell their stories of how they were involved in either the arrest, the crucifixion, or the resurrection of Jesus Christ. The characters include testimonies from the chief priest, Judas Iscariot, Pontius Pilate’s wife, Pontius Pilate, Mary the Mother of Jesus, The Angels At The Tomb, Joanna, Mary the Mother of James, Mary Magdalene, Thomas, and the Preacher. The story is told using a narrator and live characters. The play is written in such a way to include as many extras as desired to be part of the crowd. The play can be done by a small church or large church without a large number of rehearsals. You can perform the play without a lot of props. You can use a choir or soloist to perform the two songs in the Play. It can very easily include characters from all age groups. You can choose to place the play in the first century or put it into the 21st century with the same positive results. The play concludes with a short message for the preacher on the meaning of the resurrection for our lives today. The play is very adaptable to fitting a variety of needs of churches and groups in terms of size of cast, budget, and amount of time needed for rehearsals. Many of the characters are telling their own stories and are not dependent upon rehearsing with the entire cast. Your audience will be blessed if you choose your characters wisely. It is not essential to memorize the stories word for word so long as the person can make the character come to life with feeling and emotions. The play lasts from 35 minutes to 50 minutes depending on how you use the singing and the characters. The play concludes with a five minute sermon on the meaning of the resurrection for us today. A bonus full length Easter Sermon is included in the book.
