About this listen
Brain researchers in recent years have discovered the vast, untapped potential of the brain's little-used right hemisphere. Art therapist Lucia Capacchione discovered that our nondominant hand is a direct channel to that potential. Her research and fieldwork with people using their "other hand" provides the raw material for this classic, first published in 1988.
In workshops and private sessions, Lucia has worked with thousands of people, employing these techniques to help them become more creative, expressive, and intuitive in their day-to-day lives and also experience improved health and greater fulfillment in their relationships.
Lucia will show you how to:
- channel the deep inner wisdom of your true self
- change negative attitudes about yourself
- unlock creativity
- uncover hidden artistic abilities
- and heal your relationships.
Through various drawing and writing exercises, Lucia Capacchione hopes you will discover the power that lies hidden in your other hand. The techniques will help you explore and understand your thoughts and feelings on a completely different level and reconnect with a sense of playfulness you may have left behind in childhood.

The causes of Complex Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder range from severe neglect to monstrous abuse. Many survivors grew up in houses that were not homes-in families that were as loveless as orphanages and sometimes as dangerous. If you felt unwanted, unliked, rejected, hated, and/or despised for a lengthy portion of your childhood, trauma may be deeply engrained in your mind, soul, and body. This book is a practical guide to recovering from lingering childhood trauma. It is copiously illustrated with examples of the author's and his clients' journeys of recovering.

In this culmination of his life’s work, Peter A. Levine draws on his broad experience as a clinician, a student of comparative brain research, a stress scientist and a keen observer of the naturalistic animal world to explain the nature and transformation of trauma in the body, brain and psyche. In an Unspoken Voice is based on the idea that trauma is neither a disease nor a disorder, but rather an injury caused by fright, helplessness and loss that can be healed by engaging our innate capacity to self-regulate high states of arousal and intense emotions.

None of us had a perfect childhood; we are all carrying around behaviors that don’t serve us—and may in fact be hurting us. But it doesn’t have to be that way, says licensed marriage and family therapist Vienna Pharaon. Our past might create our patterns, but we can change those patterns for the better...with the right tools. In The Origins of You, Pharaon has unlocked a healing process to help us understand our Family of Origin—the family and framework we grew up within—and examine what worked (and didn’t) in that system.

Using past-life therapy, he was able to cure the patient and embark on a new, more meaningful phase of his own career.

Excellent book; didn’t care for narrator
I am a big proponent of non-dominant handwriting, having used it many times myself. The answers and instructions I got, were beyond helpful; coming from another “person” inside me! I read and listened to the author’s books, which have greatly influenced my personal and professional life.
I don’t care for the narrator’s voice. I rated that 2 stars. The content, and author’s work is a gem.
Overall, I highly recommend it!

Good information, presented badly.
I don’t know if it’s the writer’s personality that gets on my nerves or the narrator’s interpretation, something is just off.
If I didn’t have prior knowledge on the matters discussed in the book, I would’ve dismissed it as a hoax by how fakely and exageratedly everything is presented.
Solid scientific arguments are there but they’re mixed up with highly personal “one person said they felt this”, testimonials which are presented by an author who is clearly saying to us “See, this person’s life was changed in a dramatically wonderful way! Your left hand will solve every problem in your life, trust me, go do this exercise and have a joyful life because of it”.
Spirituality gets mixed in too, not that it shouldn’t, but again, the way it’s approached feels shallow. “Hey, did you know your left hand helps with spiritipuality too?! “. That’s the personality that comes across. Then we have arguments such as “ All your problems are just how you interpret things! Change your perspective and everything will be alright! “ written pretty much exactly in those words, and with no further explanation.
Adding a touch of law of attraction (“ visualizing my future house was like a magnet force that helped me to get it” or something in those lines) to the neuroscience-psychology-medical-spiritual soup made me drop this book, even though I am convinced (due to prior knowedge) that many of the things inside are in fact true, just presented badly.

It started out ok, had a couple of decent exercises, but then turned into new age junk.
The decent part can be summarized in one sentence: have an inner dialogue with yourself journaling with both your right and left hands.
