Publisher's summary

You can dissect and analyze your issues for decades, but nothing will actually resolve them and change your life like The Presence Process.

Author Michael Brown shows us how it's possible to experience awareness of the present moment without having to take the long, challenging path most of us usually take as we attempt to live in the "now".

We all long to be free of our discomfort and experience inner peace. However, the attempt to get rid of our discomfort is misguided. We're not broken and don't need to be "healed". Our difficulty is that our deeply suppressed emotional imprints from childhood distract us from an awareness of the present moment. Until this emotional charge from our past is integrated, our attempts to quiet our thoughts and access the peace, joy, and love that are bedrock to our being are of only limited success. Since presence is universal, it has the ability to manifest in our daily experience the very circumstances required for us to integrate the dysfunction that keeps us from experiencing the radiance of present moment awareness. We are each responsible for determining the quality of our personal experience, and The Presence Process guides us in taking responsibility for our emotional integration. It's a way to consciously "grow up".

One of the best self-help psychology books.

This book details a technique for integrating repressed and inhibited emotions that is psychologically valid. I have to admit that it really isn't easy but it forces you to deal with your actual feelings, not the feelings you think you should be having. But that's what you need.I can't say it really has resolved much of my unintegrated feelings but when it does work there is no doubt that it is doing for me exactly what I need. There is an unmistakable shift into a more rich sense of connection with the world. The unintegrated feelings are often subtle but the shift after integrating them is profound and not subtle at all.

Life changing

The book and it's process if done correctly and thoroughly is life changing.

I recommend it to everyone!

The only thing that I would change is the narrator, I found it hard to follow sometimes as I didn't resonate with the voice of the narrator and the sounds quality.

More than a book... a life experience

This is a book to digest slowly. Don't rush it, enjoy it bit by bit.

Cerebral

The insights are astounding. I like the way Brown couches enlightened perception in what I would describe as Western-digestible cognitions.

I would like to have had more real-life application examples and metaphors to better understand the very cerebral insights presented. I had to listen to some chapters three times in an attempt to fully comprehend the fast moving and deep philosophical knowledge being imparted, (and I’m a fairly savvy reader with a dedicated meditation practice steeped in Eastern philosophy). For instance, it would have been helpful for to have had a real-life example of concepts like living in time, consequences to gaps, redirection. After listening to the book on audible twice back to back, I still would like to have a hardcopy to fully integrate the insights being taught.

Finally, before initiating the 10 week process, I thought it would be difficult to breathe consciously twice a day for 15 minutes each time, but it wasn’t surprisingly!

Having read the book many times over the years in hard copy. I was thrilled to see it on Audible

Setting the speed to 0.9x makes this a much more enjoyable listening experience and adds an extra hour.
