About this listen

A star athlete crosses the line from passion into obsession in this darkly addictive hockey-romance novel from USA Today-bestselling author C.R. Jane.

“Give me a second chance, babe . . . and I’ll blow your mind.”

Monroe doesn’t know why she answers the text that’s obviously meant for someone else. Or why she keeps answering. Maybe it’s because she’s all alone in a big city and in desperate need of a lifeline. Or maybe it’s because each exchange leaves her intrigued and more than a little turned on.

Still, Monroe never would’ve snarked back if she’d known she was talking to the “Golden Boy” of the Dallas Knights. She couldn’t care less about Lincoln Daniels’ hockey-god status, and this only seems to attract him more. He’s used to scoring on and off the ice, and now he’s obsessed with his next goal: making Monroe his—no matter what it takes.

“Intense” doesn’t begin to cover the way Lincoln pursues her. But despite the red flags, Monroe starts to crave the way he makes her feel really, truly wanted . . . Maybe Mr. Wrong Number is actually Mr. Right.

Dark hockey romance!

This is not your average hockey romance. There are some very dark affinities that occur throughout the story, so I highly recommend checking TWs! Aside from that I enjoyed this book. It starts with Lincoln sending a text meant for another woman to the wrong number. Shortly after this chat is when we start to see exactly why Lincoln is considered an overly obsessive and jealous MMC and the extremes he will go to make his “dream girl” realize she is the light to his dark.

Monroe has undeniably had a dark and twisted upbringing that has left her with zero trust in men. Once she turns of age, she leaves her foster family and moves to make a life for herself. She’s going to school, working multiple jobs and trying to make ends meet. So when Lincoln stumbles into her life unexpectedly, it changes her life in ways she never could have fathomed.

Troy was the perfect person to play Lincoln. When I think of Troy I think of a dark, growly, alpha-hole, with all the possessive tendencies that will leave me salivating for more! And he did just that! He definitely portrayed the unhinged, stalker vibes that left me eating up every word and left me scratching my head at the extreme measures Lincoln would go to make Monroe realize they are meant for each other.

Alexis was wonderful playing Monroe! From the beginning, showing us the dark and vulnerable environment she grew up in at a young age to removing herself from a toxic and heartbreaking situation and trying to find a place in this world was immaculate. Her tones and inflections when narrating different female side characters kept me engaged with knowing who was speaking when.

Troy Duran and Alexis Page did a phenomenal job together bringing this book to life! Bravo to Troy on yet another masterpiece to add to his ever growing collection, and standing ovation to Alexis for her first debut audiobook! Can’t wait to hear future books from her, and to see her narrating career soar!

morally-greyish, stalkerific OTT hero

The hero is certainly no book boyfriend, you say? Possessive hero trope-gone-wrong, you say?
Yes, I agree, but I regret nothing.

Did the hero, Lincoln Daniels, do all of the stuff that many reviews accused him of doing? Check.
Was this story OTT, and was there barely a plot? Double check.

But, did I enjoy the shenanigans of the hero, his protectiveness, and the popcorn smuttiness of the couple's chemistry... and the hockey...and the BDE (the smut)?
Oh...yes.

I went in and ...had I read it weeks before? It would have been a "hell no."
However, with my lighter mood + lowered expectations ...

a win is a win.

OBSESSED doesn’t cover it!

I read this book the day it was released and loved it. I woke up an hour earlier than normal today JUST to get started on the audible since it’s release day, and I still wasn’t ready for this book!!!

To say I’m obsessed with it doesn’t even cover what I’m feeling right now! Troy Duran hands down most amazing growly narrator EVER! When he speaks you just that little tingle going inside. Troy as Lincoln was perfection! Alexis Paige was perfect in her portrayal of Monroe! She really got into character that’s for sure!

The story itself HOCKEY GOLD! I love dark hockey romances. This may not be as dark but it HITS JUST RIGHT! You can not read this and not be as obsessed with it as Linc is with Monroe!

Whooo…..ok you definitely must love obsession tropes!

Not for the faint of heart, and there are some trigger warnings, but spicy is an understatement.

Great story line, both broken and finds love and “home” unexpectedly. Overall very good listen and read.

Troy Duran 😍

I read TPWN and had to listen to the audio book once I learned TD was the male narrator, I had to listen! I’m not a huge fan of the female narrator, her speech was kinda choppy, weird inflections and pauses.. great story though!

Good story, Troy was Great, Alexis meh.

I enjoyed the story line and Troy Duran’s voice is spectacular. I almost DNF the audio due to the style of reading of the female narrator. It didn’t seem natural, and came across as her reading off the page. Additionally, her inflection and emotion was so off I sometimes fast forwarded to hear Troy. This is the first time reading this author and I’ll read or listen more, just not if Alexis Paige narrates.

It was good but I did get a lil shocked

I thought I was getting the normal obsessed boy but this was a little much lol. I still really enjoyed it but I think the ending was rushed just a bit. Chained up is kinda crazy lol

Cute story

Overall a cute story. I wasn’t a fan of the female narrator but the male narrator was amazing. Didn’t like the epilogue cliffhanger though. But I never like how books or movies end most of the time.
