About this listen

A star athlete crosses the line from passion into obsession in this darkly addictive hockey-romance novel from USA Today-bestselling author C.R. Jane.

“Give me a second chance, babe . . . and I’ll blow your mind.”

Monroe doesn’t know why she answers the text that’s obviously meant for someone else. Or why she keeps answering. Maybe it’s because she’s all alone in a big city and in desperate need of a lifeline. Or maybe it’s because each exchange leaves her intrigued and more than a little turned on.

Still, Monroe never would’ve snarked back if she’d known she was talking to the “Golden Boy” of the Dallas Knights. She couldn’t care less about Lincoln Daniels’ hockey-god status, and this only seems to attract him more. He’s used to scoring on and off the ice, and now he’s obsessed with his next goal: making Monroe his—no matter what it takes.

“Intense” doesn’t begin to cover the way Lincoln pursues her. But despite the red flags, Monroe starts to crave the way he makes her feel really, truly wanted . . . Maybe Mr. Wrong Number is actually Mr. Right.

Wow. This book

This book. This book was wild.
Obsessive possessive alpha who goes ‘above and beyond’ lol
Oof I was howling with laughter thru most of it, jaw dropping in shock at a few parts, which morphed into more laughter. Went in blind reading this and absolutely loved it. Highly entertaining

This is crazy and I loved every minute of it.

I couldn’t get through it fast enough but I never wanted it to end. His possessiveness went to another level, but this was so good. I will reread this probably multiple times. It’s that good.

Wayyy better than I had expected 😅

I have read a few other books by this author that didn't blow me away, so I was kind of on the fence about this one. And I've been in a book slump, the last handful of books I've listened to ended up getting thrown into the ever growing DNF pile 😑 But the reviews and Troy's narration sealed the deal for me lol I'd listen to Troy read a phone book, he is hands down my favorite male narrator, especially for these dark alpha-hole anti heros!
I was shocked at how much I liked this book. I typically listen to 4-6 books a week so it can be hard to keep my attention. But this gem had no problems keeping me sucked in. It had great flow, just enough suspense and drama, but not enough to make you roll your eyes or fast forward thru never ending monologs.
My only criticism would be that some of the sex scenes (especially in the beginning) could have been hotter lol but that's just me wanting to here more of Troy's tingle inducing voice 😄
Worth a credit??? Heck yes it was! You won't regret it!

It’s Pretty Good!

I really enjoyed this! For probably all of the wrong reasons. Lol. Lincoln is definitely obsessed and has sociopath tendencies, but I love it. I also really liked Monroe. She wasn’t as annoying as I find most female protagonists to be. I do feel this book was a little lengthy for the story itself. There were moments that definitely could have been left out and didn’t bring enough to the story. I also felt the “climax” of keeping Monroe was not as climatic as it maybe could have been. It was just another piece of boring “okay this is weird”. 🤣🤣🤣 Overall, I loved both Monroe and Lincoln. They’re adorable. And I love ice hockey, so he’s definitely a dream to me. A crazy obsessed stalker hockey player? Sign me up. 🤣🤣🤣

Insane possessive MC, but we’re just gonna let that slide🙄

Spoilers

First, let me say performance was great. But the story… well to summarize…I’m concerned.
I saw the red flags from a mile away. To put it short, the male love interest, Kingston; is unhinged. Why this type of love interest would ever be desirable to a reader has got me doubting society’s sanity.
I was so annoyed with the MFC after she just forgives his possessive actions and ignores the implications of the things he says, like “she would die before he ever let her leave him” naw we’re just gonna pretend that didn’t happen. I’m just… I have no words. Well maybe I do have a few after all…, dumb, real dumb… infuriating, annoying. Just No. I can’t with this

Well that took a turn

I did not see that coming. This book definitely took a turn that I didn’t see coming. I’m not sure if I want to read the next books in the series if these characters are all the same in their over the top obsessive behavior.

Obsession with understandable insanity!

I wish I could be Lincoln’s insane obsession. Over a good story. A completely unbelievable story. But that’s why we love books, right? To get lost in fiction beyond real possibilities. I enjoyed the story and rooted for Lincoln & Monroe the whole time. My only criticism would be using Troy Duran as the male voice. While his voice is dripping with Sean appeal, it doesn’t fit the age of the 24 year old Lincoln. He did a great job narrating as always though. Alexis was the perfect fit for 19 year old Monroe. If you love a dark sports romances, this one’s for you ♥️

Love it!!!

This book is now in my top three books of all time. I highly recommend this book. This book had me smiling through almost the entire storyline. My husband even asked what I was reading because I was shy away like a schoolgirl. This book was so well written. It’s amazing it is a must read and listen. the narration of this book for Lincoln is amazing, Both narrators were so good at this book it made me feel like I was watching a movie instead of just listening. So many spicy scenes five star all the way around warning there are trigger points towards the end of the book but they’re very subtle.

Not for me

I saw some of the comments praising the relationship.. but this is truly a toxic man. While I understand that it is a dark romance, it goes too far for my taste for the couple to live happily ever after. I’m glad Monroe admits that it is an unhealthy relationship but I think she deserved more. The narrators did a great job but it’s not worth the price

Weird

I liked it, then it took a dark turn and made no sense. I did listen to the whole story though, because I wanted to know what happened so that's something.
