Publisher's summary
For generations, the kingdoms of Vaniar and Sylvanlund have been at war over the mineral-rich mountainous region between their two kingdoms. Sylvanlund has proposed a marriage between the only children of their monarchs, a marriage that will end the war and the loss of lives it has meant for both kingdoms. The king and queen of Vaniar accept the proposal and begin negotiations, but someone with unknown motives has begun machinations – machinations of incredible sorcery – to prevent the marriage from occurring. Or so it appears.
Identical twins Ian and Tad Tomulson, sons of parents who work for the king of Vaniar, abruptly find themselves entwined in these mysterious and unexplained happenings, and they must face the truth that sorcery—outlawed in their kingdom—is real. Worse, as they confront these fearsome threats, they begin to learn that something mysterious and unexplained is also occurring within their own family.
