About this listen

The White Lich has conquered Tanar Atain.

Soon, he means to take the entire world. Dante suspects his next target will be Bressel, where the Tanarians have established their court in exile. The only chance to stop the lich will be to forge a fragile alliance between the bitter enemies of three different lands: Tanar Atain, Mallon, and Narashtovik.

The city stands on the brink of rebellion. Yet even if Dante, Blays, and Gladdic can unite it, they still might not have the strength to stand against the army of the lich.

One last hope may stop the coming destruction: the legendary Spear of Stars. But the weapon was lost long ago. To find it again, they may have to travel further than they've ever known.

Disappointed

I loved the Cycle of Arawn, and the rest of this series has been pretty good... but, I was disappointed in this installment! **General Spoilers, nothing specific** First off, Dante and Gladic were 2 of the most powerful sorcerers in the world, but yet, both of them together, along with Blays, can’t seem to defeat one of Gladic’s cohorts? Really!? Next, Mr. Robertson has commented numerous times that he wasn’t able to get enough into this book as he wanted... but, he made a single battle in this book as long as The Last Battle (WOT), which consisted of a dozen different POV’s, and was the culmination of about 400 hours of audiobook. In this book, nearly 10 hours of audiobook is spent on a single battle, from a single POV. How many times can they be utterly trapped by the blighted, only to miraculously come out relatively unscathed? Had this single battle been significantly scaled back, as would have been proper for an intermediate battle, maybe the story could have proceeded further, and NOT ended in the middle of a plot line. The other books have been pretty good at stopping in a natural lull, this stops in the middle of a conversation and a Blays scheme. Finally, this book simply did not keep my interest as well as previous books in this series. It was difficult to let myself go, and imagine myself being there, seeing things unfold in my mind as if I were watching a movie. Instead, I found my mind wandering and kept having to rewind and re-listen... in some instances, multiple times. I believe the lack of pulling me in was in part the story, and in part the narration, which loathes me to say because TGR is a Titan at this!

I will give the next book a try, but I really hope it is better than this one. Mr. Robertson, if you read this, please know... I am a big fan, and I truly hope you can pull my imagination back into this series.

It ended!! Where’s the next book?!!

I’m beginning to feel like Blays and Dante are family friends. I love the banter, graveyard humor when facing death, and the flow of the story. The narrator is the best. He might be able to make Shakespeare palatable to me. Great story all around.

Another great adventure!!

This book picks back up where the last book left off with Dante, Blays and Gladdic continuing their fight against the lich. It is another amazing addition to the series! The banter between these three are so much fun. Tim Gerald Reynolds does an outstanding job as always. I can't wait for the next book in the series!! #Magical #Witty #MagicSystems #Tagsgiving #Sweepstakes

A little long winded

I’ve been enjoying this series quite a bit but this last installment was a little bit slow. One of the best parts of the story has been discovering the intricacies of the light and the dark. Unfortunately, there was not that much discovery in this a lot of talking and a lot of unnecessary time killing writing.

A great set up

I was afraid this book would let me down, but it is a great story in its own and sets up the finale without a hitch. Not just a filler book but maintains its own climax(s)

Great Pace and Well Told

This is a great addition to the series and I can't wait for the next one. My only complaint has nothing to do with the story but Audible screwed up the recording and has it start halfway through. You basically start at Chapter 17. If you know this ahead a time you can figure out how to fast forward to the beginning.

Fantastic! As Usual!

Now, I will not go Into detail about the content, since I have experienced many a spoiler that way myself. I will however tell you that by the time you're 2/3 through this book, you'll be at your wits end wondering how on earth our three unlikely companions are going pull ANY of this off. It gets really awesome towards the end, like "otherworldly" awesome. I was unaware that the story would go this direction and I was pleasantly surprised. You'll have to see for yourself, but I'm recommending this book, if you've been reading the series, then you know already how great this author is . Be ready to immediately want more and NOT FREAKING HAVE IT! I usually wait until the author is complete with a series before buying it, but it was way too good to wait lol!

Great story just like the others!

I loved the entire book, right up until the end! You left us on a cliff hanger! TV shows do that and you have to wait a week, or sometimes until the next season, how long do we have to wait for the next book?!

TMI

This book was awesome but a lot of this should have been in the last book. I love to see these characters grow and yet remain the same love able duo. Yet I felt no real growth in their abilities. Can’t wait til the next book comes though!
