History Lesson with heart.

Jodi Picoult did not disappoint. A littl long my kept my attention most of the time. Excellent story of the horror of the Holocust from the personal level. A good reminder of how our past influences our futures.

Brilliant

Would you listen to The Storyteller again? Why?

I just finished listening to it and am resisting listening again, saving it for a future date when I can't wait anymore. This is Jodi Picoult in top form. The writing is superb; the harrowing story is difficult to pause, so real and horrific, even though we know much about the end; the performance is brilliant. I can't imagine that reading this as text would begin to approach the impact of this recording.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Storyteller?

The twist at the end, even though I expected it.

What about the narrators’s performance did you like?

They were amazing. Edoardo Ballerini's accents!

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Oh yes, but I resisted.

Any additional comments?

Picoult's research is superb. We always learn something from reading her books.

Beautiful!

I couldn't put this book away! I've never read/heard another story like it! So real! I loved all the different narrators! Heart wrenching and heart warming at the same time! I'll be recommending this book to everyone!

An enthral king story on so many levels

Would you listen to The Storyteller again? Why?

I would find this book hard to listen to again as its realism was very disturbing. A really upsetting story, which needs to told

What did you like best about this story?

The three stories intertwined kept the listener enthralled

Which character – as performed by the narrators – was your favorite?

The holocaust survivor captured my interest. Although the story in the present was also very good.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I found myself listening way into the night

Any additional comments?

The ending in so many books is often disappointing. In this novel Jodi Picoult has managed to sustain your interest right to the end and leave one wondering

Worthwhile

Would you listen to The Storyteller again? Why?

No, I enjoyed it, but I rarely reread books. This one isn't uplifting or funny, so it doesn't need a second visit

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

The details of what the concentration camps were like were fascinating.

Which character – as performed by the narrators – was your favorite?

I loved the mixture of the narrators. That kept me interested in the book

Any additional comments?

It's a good book, it's not uplifting and I didn't agree with the main characters actions. In some ways, it took me a while to get her and I'm not sure I ever really embraced her. I actually could "get" the other characters better for what ever reason. It's well written and interesting but it did get long.

Powerful

Even though it is a work of fiction, it reminds us of a nearly forgotten past. God help that we do not repeat it.

Worth Listening To

Most of this story kept my interest, with some parts dragging on a bit. I didn’t realize this book was going to have a Holocaust aspect, but it reinforces what innocent people had to endure approximately seventy-five years ago. I actually didn’t care for the vampire story that was conveyed in this novel written by Minka. Not my thing.
I think the narrators did a great job. I love it when there are many individuals telling the story. This was my second Jodi Picoult and I enjoy her writing.
