On a hot August night, Jen Taverson is watching the Perseid meteor shower on her own when a sudden explosion of light distorts the landscape. In the field before her strange forms emerge out of thin air and disappear. She tells the local people what happened, but of course no one believes her story. “No little green men allowed,” laughs one of her friends.
Only Rob McCord, a former photojournalist who has moved back to live in his family homestead just outside of town, believes what Jen saw is real. His parents disappeared while looking for evidence of UFOs and he tells her the Hudson River Valley has long experienced alien visitors. The arrival she witnessed has to signal some massive alteration. They never come without a mission.
Disturbing signs reveal to Jen and Rob the location of a portal in the Valley that has existed for over a hundred million years. They uncover the chilling truth--the alien visitors are here to prevent one of their own from reaching the portal and going through it, casting the earth into an unthinkable armageddon.
