Publisher's summary

Following on from Tom Swan and the Head of St George, Tom Swan and the Siege of Belgrade is the next instalment of the fast-paced series set in the turbulent Europe of the fifteenth century. This collection contains the full story - parts one through seven.

Fifteenth Century Europe. Tom Swan is not a professional soldier. He's really a merchant and a scholar looking for remnants of Ancient Greece and Rome - temples, graves, pottery, fabulous animals, unicorn horns. But he also has a real talent for ending up in the midst of violence when he didn't mean to. Having used his wits to escape execution, he begins a series of adventures that take him to street duels in Italy, meetings with remarkable men - from Leonardo Da Vinci to Vlad Dracula - and from the intrigues of the War of the Roses to the fall of Constantinople.

Great Story!

As good as his killer of men series. Similar to Simon Scarrow and his Roman series the author is someone who is both a good historian and good author. I enjoyed being transported to the medieval world with interesting characters and great plot. The grand scope of history underlying the plot appears accurate and puts multiple world events together in a timeline I had never comprehended before. Off to the next book of the series….

History on a human scale

I wanted to know more about what happened after the 1453 fall of Constantinople, and this story gave me some context and an intriguing starting point to research more of the facts. That’s why I read historical fiction, and Thomas Swan and associates accompany me and make it all feel more real.

Just a fantastic book?

The lead character, Tom Swan, really develops in this second book of the series, and becomes yet another of Cameron’s magnificent lead characters!

The story itself is just as good, with the first have covering some action in Rome and Venice before Swan takes a group of crusaders to Belgrade.

I can’t recommend it enough!

Another good one

It’s another good one in the series, just interesting that he used a lot of familiar names from the I’ll made knight series.

Very good late Middle Ages historical fiction.

Great history, great action, not totally unbelievable, It has the right mix of intrigue and battle to make me happy. Christian Cameron has become my favorite author. If you're a fan of his Chivalry series, this is very much a spiritual successor. Or vice versa, because I think Tom Swan predates Chivalry, publication wise.
