Publisher's summary

A former Navy SEAL sniper turned media CEO and New York Times best-selling author teaches business leaders how to make the best decisions under pressure.

Over his four deployments as a Navy SEAL sniper, Brandon Webb learned all about performing while experiencing heart-pounding stress. After returning to civilian life, he started his first business venture - and failed miserably. He realized that his big mistake was neglecting to apply what he already knew about focus under pressure. By drawing on the lessons of his SEAL training and early business struggles, Webb went on to build a second business, a media network called Hurricane, which today has an audience of millions and a valuation over $100 million.

Now Webb deconstructs the decision-making DNA of the most effective snipers and shows you how to develop the same mental acuity in civilian life. Drawing on stories from his own experiences and those of other Special Operations warriors and great entrepreneurs, like Solomon Choi of 16 Handles, Matt Meeker of BarkBox, and Betsy Morgan of The Huffington Post and TheBlaze, he teaches you how to have total situational awareness to stay out of danger and adapt to changing circumstances, to avoid the trap of overanalysis, and to understand that pain is temporary and learning is priceless.

By following in the path of a generation of legendary snipers, you'll find the clarity of mind you need to make key decisions and accomplish your mission, whatever it takes.

Reinforcement and Belief

A book worth listening to. It has great stories and great perspectives. Realistically a lot of information is already out there, but reading, hearing different stories of struggles and successes and having the information continually into your reinforcement is what makes the difference. 500 people can say the exact same thing, using the exact same words, but it might also take those 500 people before you change your perspective.

A Bit Unfocused

Based on the write ups and intro the book, I had expected this to be a book about eliminating distractions. While it certainly talks about the importance of that, and discusses how critical complete focus is, there is very little in the way of practical methods used to develop said focus other than recommending we practice. It's a total miss from a practical standpoint if learning how to focus is your goal with this book. THAT SAID....

It's a good all around entrepreneur book. It covers a wide variety of entrepreneurial topics including a number of leadership elements, and covers them reasonably well. It's a worthy read within that context.

He nails the strategy

This book has the right strategy and even great tactical tips for your journey to running a successful business. The reader can tell the author has lived it themselves, I encourage you to check it out for yourself.

The first principle alone is worth the book, the other 6 are bonuses.

The Only Easy Day Was Yesterday

This is a great motivational book. The key point is to pick one thing to be EXCELLENT in and focus on DOING that one thing well. There are also other skills that entrepreneurs need to develop (but tend to ignore). An important one is 'know your number' - meaning knowing exactly how much revenue is required to be profitable, what are the sources of that revenue, and what is everything costing. Don't depend on someone else to track the numbers because the task seems too daunting. If you don't know the number you need to reach, how will you know what it takes to be successful?

Other benefits of this book is there are several chapters that profile individuals who faced obstacles and difficult decisions to make, took the risks, put in the hard work, and came out stronger for it. While the advice is typical, the real-life stories give readers something to relate to and help them envision their own path to success.
