Publisher's summary

Russell Bricklin "Bric" Whal is the guy that every Key West local knows and every tourist wants to be. Relaxed, tanned by island sun and comfortable in his skin, he slides onto a barstool next to you at Schooner Wharf and lets you buy him a beer. Ex-Navy Seal, Key West native and full time treasure diver, Bric has been searching for a fortune in gold and silver in the Florida Keys his whole life. Today he may have found it, but not the treasure he expected. Diving on a sunken Spanish Galleon, he finds three massive gold bars, not from the wreck that sunk in 1733, but apparently from the Civil War. Bric thinks he's finally unearthed his fortune. Or has he?

A Very Fun Story

This book went on & on for over 9 hrs & I enjoyed it the whole time. The narrator did a great job. He's like a grandpa sitting in his favorite chair and telling us a exciting treasure hunting story. I really enjoyed it.

Great story, great reader, distracting music

Story was fun, creative, clever with enough suspense to make use the drive-through at lunch so i could eat and listen in the car. Inflections and voices used by the narrator were well done and entertaining and the ocean sound effects added much. However, the 80's-style porn music that intrudes during the recording seemed to come at the most inappropriate times and greatly detracted from the storyline. If this recording could be edited to remove the music it would have been one of my favorites. That said, I would listen to it again and would recommend it to a friend.

annoying sound effects

What did you love best about Treasure Key?

The story and plot were great.

What other book might you compare Treasure Key to and why?

Kinda like Wayne Stinnett's Jesse McDermott Fallen Series

How did the narrator detract from the book?

I generally don't like sound effects, but the water splashing, lapping, was very annoying and sounded like taking a leak. And it goes on and on and on and on....

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The Navy Seal career Bric had.

A fun Beach read

A fun, well written beach read. Nothing too serious but a fun getaway to the Keys with a crazy cast of characters and some treasure to boot. The story is a bit slow but that’s because it gives the liestener a bit more about the life in the Key’s than just the main treasure hunt story line. I do have to take a star for the main character and his son poaching more than their limit and taking fish out of season other than that I really liked it. If you’re looking for a little (mental) warm weather getaway give this a try!

The production quality on this audio book is great. All the sound effects to go along with great narration it really made me feel as if it was an old time radio show and made it even more fun.

Interesting history, hideous music, sound effects

Would you try another book from Mr. Wayne Gales and/or Lee Alan?

Yes, if I could be certain that the idiotic and distracting music was left out of the audiobook.

If you’ve listened to books by Mr. Wayne Gales before, how does this one compare?

n/a

How did the narrator detract from the book?

He didn't distract....the music and idiotic sound effects distracted from the narration. I almost gave up several times, but persevered.
