Publisher's summary
NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • In the fourth novel of the Iron Druid Chronicles, two-thousand-year-old Druid Atticus O’Sullivan must pay his debts to cunning trickster god Coyote, a task that includes battling undead creatures of the night as well as a relentless hound of Hel and the goddess of death who commands it.
“[Kevin] Hearne is a terrific storyteller with a great snarky wit. . . . Neil Gaiman’s American Gods meets Jim Butcher’s Harry Dresden.”—SFFWorld
Cutting a deal with a trickster god rarely goes well for any human brave or foolish enough to try it, but Atticus doesn’t feel like he has a choice. With members of the Norse pantheon out for his blood, he can’t train his apprentice in peace, so he asks Coyote to help him fake his own death. The cost, however, might wind up being every bit as high as if he’d made no deal at all.
There are things hiding in the Arizona desert that don’t want any company, and Coyote makes sure they know Atticus has arrived. And then there's the hound of Hel, Garm, who’s terribly difficult to shake and not at all convinced that Atticus is dead.
Being tricked by a trickster is par for the course. But it’s the betrayal from someone he thought was a friend that shakes Atticus to the core and places his life in jeopardy. The real trick, he discovers, might be surviving his own faked death.
Includes Kevin Hearne’s novella “Two Ravens and One Crow”

A man. His ex-girlfriend's cat. A sadistic game show unlike anything in the universe: a dungeon crawl where survival depends on killing your prey in the most entertaining way possible. In a flash, every human-erected construction on Earth - from Buckingham Palace to the tiniest of sheds - collapses in a heap, sinking into the ground. The buildings and all the people inside have all been atomized and transformed into the dungeon: an 18-level labyrinth filled with traps, monsters, and loot.

Featured Article: The top 100 series of all time
The feeling of discovering that your favorite new listen is actually the start of a series is euphoric. That you can immediately hit play and re-enter a beloved new world, or love story, or era from history is a gift to the devoted listener. But how to pick just 100 of these unique and immersive listening journeys? We defined a series as having a minimum of three books, and—after some debate—we decided the titles had to be anchored in fiction. From YA to horror to historical fiction, from fresh voices to seminal tales, hours of discovery await.

Any additional comments?
As good as the prior installments to the series. These books are a big mash up of a diverse conglomeration of cultural mythologies, religions, monsters and modern cultural references. I find it clever and highly entertaining. Narrator does a fantastic job as always.

I am lovin' me some Wolfhound & Druid!
I have truely come to love this series. The books are very well written and have great stories behind them. Once again, Oberon the wolfhound, keeps me laughing out loud and dying for more. The writer just has a great way with words & a great imagination. I will continue to read these books as long as he keeps writing them.

Trouble Coming
Would you listen to Tricked again? Why?
Yes I would and probably will. Partly because I'll want to refresh my memory as later volumes are published and partly because I just plain liked it.
What other book might you compare Tricked to and why?
Pick a Dresden Files book. Magical protagonist in a non-magical world, beset by troubles, some of his own making.
What does Luke Daniels bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Daniels is just pitch perfect as Atticus.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
Not a extreme as that, but the fate of one of the characters in the earlier books made me very, very sad.
Any additional comments?
As expected, the darker tone continued with this book. It's starting to shape up as a nice series with a flawed but fundamentally good protagonist. It's nit picking a little, but I also think the character of Oberon is getting a wee bit overused.
