Acerca de esta escucha

Patrick Steel

They call him Tricks. To me, he was the first man I ever felt I could trust. He annihilated all the stereotypes about men rooted in me, even when he so easily fit the mold. He wasn't my type, not at all.

I hated men.... In my last life, anyway.

Savvy Sutton

I call her Savanah. It isn't her name, but it made total sense. She didn't know who she was, yet she held on to the lies she so desperately wanted to believe in, to save a part of herself. She tried to fight her attraction for me, and I made damn sure that didn't happen. Then...she tricked me.

Sometimes, the greatest love stories grow from lies.

Contains mature themes.

If it wasn't for Patrick Savvy would ruin it

I am only an hour into the book but I am struggling every time Savvy talks because she is over the top. She is completely unreasonable and fanatical. Quite rarely Patrick the male saves the day by having some sense.

It got better 3/4 through

Hyper feminist

I listened until chapter 9, couldn’t do it anymore. Usually if this happens it’s because of the narrator. Not in this case.

Random

I guess these YA books are too much for me to comprehend at times. Young sex and crazy antics can be a little daunting. It was a good book. interesting. We’ll see how the next one goes.

Sanctimonious, V-Hat Wearing Feminist Woo-Woo Woman-Child. Lackluster HEA.

I’ll give it to MJ Fields, she writes such unbelievably in-depth, individualistic characters. I have enjoyed all the books in this series so much. As I mentioned in my review of the previous book, up until that point, I have absolutely no complaints—but the ending wasn’t my fav. Well, that was true until this book. Fields has written Savvy so well—perhaps too well, because I absolutely cannot stand her! I liked Gabriella more than Savvy even when she was being a "𝘴𝘦𝘦 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘯𝘦𝘹𝘵 𝘛𝘶𝘦𝘴𝘥𝘢𝘺" at the beginning of the last book, and that’s saying something. From beginning to end, I hated this book. I am struggling with rating it because as far as quality, Fields did a great job again! I often overlook her syntactical and grammatical errors that could use some editing, simply because her written content is so very good. It’s the actual story I didn’t care for in this case, despite it technically being a good one as far as that goes. I loved that the author’s character illustrations revealed some stereotypes and misconceptions, namely that she showed the folly of extreme feminism and how closed-minded it, too, can be—hypocritically so. Of course, Patrick was so lovable. But Savvy? Not so much. There was a lot of spiritual mumbo-jumbo in the book—a lot of pseudophilosophical jargon and religious pluralism, which are major, major turn-offs for me. And just like the ending of the previous book, this one definitely left something to be desired with the mediocre HEA. While many may love that Savvy went her own way to “find herself” and experience her “cultural heritage,” and that it probably appeases many young female readers/listeners, I hated it. I think it’s such nonsense. Perhaps I’m just traditional. 🤷‍♀️ It just wasn’t for me. I kept waiting for Savvy’s eye-opening transformation, and I just didn’t feel like it really happened to the degree that it needed to. I simply didn’t like her. I thought she was self-absorbed, annoying, and childish—and it was difficult to want her to end up with Patrick apart from wanting him to have the one he loved.

Disappointing

Out of all the Steel series and I’ve read or listen to them all just have one left to go I think this was the most disappointing one! I was really looking forward to see what come of Patrick and this really made his character as adult disappointing not as exciting as I thought it would be like his Dad Xzavier and Irish his Mom”s was.
