Publisher's summary

She wants something real. He wants something now. Together they're trouble in USA Today bestselling author Adriana Locke's sexy and funny twice-in-a-lifetime love story.

With his shameless grin and let's-play swagger, carpenter Penn Etling leaves women wanting in Dogwood Lane. What do they get? Avery Perry knows: a one-night stand. She's been there. She remembers every hot pulse as if it were yesterday. But Penn? He doesn’t remember a thing. Now he’s making new moves, and Avery’s not falling for trouble...again. Is she?

How could the beautiful stranger resist him? Avery is going to be a challenge for the bad boy. She's the kind of woman who digs deep - deep enough to see there's more to Penn than meets the eye. But first she has to give him a chance. She has to say yes. Could she also be the woman to make him change his playboy ways?

When these two come together, it's hard to pull them apart. But with love and trust on the line, can Avery and Penn get what they both want? This time for keeps?

Trouble: 3.9 stars

Trouble: nice book. The characters are a bit childish for their age. The hero's line of thinking is of a teenage and not of a 28 years old man. But nonetheless, I enjoyed reading this book.

Awesome story

The female narrator swallows or something. It gets irritating.

The rest is brilliant, but if you have misophonia -avoid.

I laughed out loud at Penn’s antics. A nice mixture of deep and funny❤️

Sweet story.

I loved the story but hated the narration. Most of the time Penn sounded like a New York hustler. He didn’t sound like the robust, viral man he portrayed. The other men sounded like girls to me.

oh, Penn...

Penn and Avery's story was always going to be entertaining.
That's just Penn in a nutshell - funny, quick-witted, continuous innuendo, a good time.

Avery, however, was a tough nut for him to crack.
After having her life be so public, feeling like people have used her to get a foot up in her L.A. world, she is looking for a real connection.
NOT a playboy, which Penn's charm and playfulness allude to.

Deciding to be friends, they become closer. So, we are granted the pleasure of seeing all the different layers that help make up Penn.
While Penn is uncertain of his value, he knows he has a good thing with Avery. But, he is his own worst enemy.

I loved the banter, the playfulness throughout this book. The way this group of friends teases each other is just so much fun.
I was a little disappointed that the narrators were different, but they did a good job.

Story awesome, Male narration not

Loved the story but almost stopped listening several times because of Penn’s narrator. The character sounded much older and had an odd voice that didn’t match what I expected Pen to sound like

Great story

Trouble was well written and full of love, romance, laughter and is a second chance at love story about Penn Etling and Avery Perry. I’ve been intrigued by Penn ever since he was first mentioned in the series with some of his shenanigans making me laugh

I really liked Penn and Avery, both separately and together. From the first chapter to the last, I was absolutely hooked by the story that Adriana Locke wove.

I love small town romances and when you add in characters like Penn and Avery it is a joy to read. I loved how swoon worthy Penn was, he ticked all the boxes for me and I loved Avery, she is funny, smart and sassy.

I love Dogwood Lane and Adriana Locke really brings it to life for me. Avery certainly gave Penn a run for his money and they were well suited to one another and their story made for an entertaining read.

Penn Owns My Heart

Hands down this is my favorite book of the Dogwood Lane series and maybe of all of Adriana Locke's books. I love beautifully broken characters and both Avery and Penn have been broken by their upbringing and families. While Penn has always been the one-night stand kind of guy, what he finds in Avery-a girl who helped him on his darkest night in the past-is more than he is prepared to accept.
He sees himself as unworthy and unlovable but Avery sees the man beneath, as do all his friends and neighbors.
Avery has secrets of her own, but refusing to divulge she's been in Penn's life before causes a great deal of turmoil in their lives. As a couple they are explosive and happy, apart they are both miserable, so Ms. Locke does what she does best: mend the characters and their hearts and giving them their HEA.
I listened to this amazing story and was totally pulled into the story by Laura West and Rock Engle, who may very well be my new favorite narrator. His rumbling voice and smooth Southern edge gave Penn just the right characterization. Ms. West was equally enjoyable as Avery. I hope to listen to more from this duo, together or separately.

Story is a solid 5 ⭐️; Narration is NOT

I actually had to stop listening to this book on audible, and pull out my kindle and finish it the good old fashioned way. This book deserves the same ratings as the previous two books, I think. It was such a cute story and Penn was well worth wait! My story review is truly a solid 5 stars.
Following is the review for the narration and editing.
With almost 600 books in my audible library, I have had some amazing listens, and I have had some that were not so amazing. At all. Unfortunately, this story falls firmly in the latter category IMO. The best description of the male narrator that I can possibly come up with was that he was trying to sing the book to me?! I mean not really, but really?!!
The editing was sub par as well; you could hear back ground noises such as swallowing and voice imperfections. This may be the case on other books too; however the narration could’ve just been so bad that irritation had my ear picking up all sorts of things. I could’ve lived with the female narrator. Not my favorite but not horrible either.
Overall, grabbing your kindle and reading is the way to go. I have read other reviews on different books where the narrators had awful reviews; but I could still tolerate them enough to listen… so my advice is try before you buy!! #sample (make sure your kindle is charged just in case.)
