Publisher's summary
Policemen are trained to respond logically and rationally in moments of stress - they have a very stressful job wherein they are seen as de facto villains for both criminals as well as the people they are protecting. They often, to their detriment, represent the ruling class, causing them to not have many admirers.
It is thus interesting to see the number of accounts reported by policemen that hint at a paranormal entity, as this seems to be an aberration with respect to their usual personality.
At this point it is difficult to explain why human beings are so enraptured by the paranormal - perhaps it is a product of millennia of evolution that has led to us surviving, and thriving, on this planet. Perhaps we can come to a better understanding with regards to this question at the end of this book, which is an attempt to chronicle a few varied and interesting police encounters with seemingly paranormal activity.
The purpose of this book is primarily as an interest piece, but also with the intention to arouse a sense of curiosity in the listener towards possible solutions to these mysteries.
Both supernatural and rational conclusions will be presented in this book, with the intention not of foisting an opinion on the listener, but of exposing the listener to a myriad number of ways in which the supernatural is said to have influenced our world....

Story
The ancient Toltecs believed that life, as we perceive it, is a dream. We each live in our own personal dream, and these come together to form the dream of the planet, or the world in which we live. Problems arise when our perception of the dream becomes clouded with negativity, drama, and judgment (of ourselves and others), because it's in these moments of suffering that we have forgotten that we are the architects of our own reality and we have the power to change our dream if we choose.

Story
The book of Enoch was thought to be lost for over 2,000 years until, in 1773, a traveller brought three copies back from Ethiopia. Whether or not this ancient book was actually authored by Enoch, the father of Methuselah and great-grandfather of Noah, is an ongoing debate among historians and theologians. But all recognise the book of Enoch as one of the most important apocalyptic works outside of the Bible.

Mystics and sages have long maintained that there exists an interconnecting cosmic field at the roots of reality that conserves and conveys information, a field known as the Akashic record. Recent discoveries in vacuum physics show that this Akashic field is real and has its equivalent in science's zero-point field that underlies space itself. This field consists of a subtle sea of fluctuating energies from which all things arise: atoms and galaxies, stars and planets, living beings, and even consciousness.

Story
Turning the other cheek does not mean standing by while the enemies of God dismantle Christian civilization and brainwash our children. Decrying the cowardice that masquerades as meekness, Eric Metaxas summons the Church to battle. An attenuated and unbiblical “faith” based on what Bonhoeffer called “cheap grace” has sapped the spiritual vitality of millions of Americans. Paying lip service to an insipid “evangelism,” they shrink from combating the evils of our time. Metaxas refutes the pernicious lie that fighting evil politicizes Christianity.

The secret to happiness is to acknowledge and transform suffering, not to run away from it. Here, Thich Nhat Hanh offers practices and inspiration transforming suffering and finding true joy. Thich Nhat Hanh acknowledges that because suffering can feel so bad, we try to run away from it or cover it up by consuming. We find something to eat or turn on the television. But unless we’re able to face our suffering, we can’t be present and available to life, and happiness will continue to elude us.

Unusual Police Encounters
Unusual Police Encounters
This book concerns unusual phenomena as encountered by police officers. About half of the stories related here I was already familiar with and the rest were new. The encounters were still interesting and I listened to the audio book version of this book as well, using immersion reading. It was an enjoyable short read. The author is a history buff and it shows. The audio book was entertaining with Clear, concise narration.

Not what you think
I thought this was going to have some true stories of police officers and their supernatural encounters - it is instead all VERY famous and well-known accounts to which there happened to be some police eyewitness.
These are stories heard everywhere, some I’ve seen on several different tv shows about the paranormal. Disappointed in the stories as I’ve heard them all before but the narrator is good.
