Publisher's summary
A mysterious stranger known as 'The Wolf' leaves an infant with the sisters of Santo Spirito. A tiny silver key hidden in her wrappings is the only clue to the child's identity and so begins a story as intriguing and beautiful as the city of Florence itself. Belinda Alexandra's new novel, Tuscan Rose, is set in Italy during the time of Mussolini. This richly woven tale of passion, love, longing, witchcraft and magic promises to be everything her readers love and more.

Story
The modern audience hasn't had a chance to truly appreciate the unknowing dread that readers would have felt when reading Bram Stoker's original 1897 manuscript. Most modern productions employ campiness or sound effects to try to bring back that gothic tension, but we've tried something different. By returning to Stoker's original storytelling structure - a series of letters and journal entries voiced by Jonathan Harker, Dr. Van Helsing, and other characters - with an all-star cast of narrators, we've sought to recapture its originally intended horror and power.

Story
Narrator Dan Stevens ( Downton Abbey) presents an uncanny performance of Mary Shelley's timeless gothic novel, an epic battle between man and monster at its greatest literary pitch. In trying to create life, the young student Victor Frankenstein unleashes forces beyond his control, setting into motion a long and tragic chain of events that brings Victor to the very brink of madness. How he tries to destroy his creation, as it destroys everything Victor loves, is a powerful story of love, friendship, scientific hubris, and horror.

I read the reviews before I purchased this book and almost didn't get it. So glad I listened to my heart. Most excellent! I love WWII novels. I learned so much about a part of the war I didn't know. Now, which one next😍

Such a beautiful listen....
What made the experience of listening to Tuscan Rose the most enjoyable?
This is a duel effort between the author and the narrator. I mean the story was beautifully written and the way Caroline Lee narrated it really brought it to life.
What other book might you compare Tuscan Rose to and why?
Unfortunately I am unable to think of one at this moment but think of a historical romance centered around a war. That is the premise for this story.
Which character – as performed by Caroline Lee – was your favorite?
I honestly do not have a favorite. I had my favorite characters in general but this has nothing to do with the narration.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
In the beginning this book was a bit slow. I had a hard time following during my initial sitting. I even got frustrated for even buying the book but once it picked up around the second chapter I did not want to put it down. However, I will say this was a really long book and I think there could have been some things left out of the book. Even still, this did not effect how I feel about the work that went into it.
Any additional comments?
This was a beautiful story and one that I thoroughly enjoyed. I would recommend this to anyone who doesn't mind being on the edge of their seats. Those who don't mind crying. Basically anyone who understands what it feels like to be emotionally invested in a book. This book was well worth the credit or cash.

Caroline Lee's narration of this book is brilliant
If you could sum up Tuscan Rose in three words, what would they be?
Exciting, romantic, struggle
Who was your favorite character and why?
The main character, Rosa, the brave Tuscan Rose
Have you listened to any of Caroline Lee’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
This is the first narration by Caroline Lee that I have heard, but I am frantically searching for the next. Her performance was excellent.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
This book will twist you from shock to tears to laughter and outright surprise. A delightful read that you won't want to put down.

So Well Written but Not a Light Read
I wish I had saved this book for the long winter days. But I bought it on sale and I love Caroline Lee's narration. It is such a wonderfully written, with time appropriate horrors....I normally cannot enjoy a book in which women can be treated badly but the heroine in this book is truly that. I cannot imagine the amount of research that went into this book. I applaud this writer. Belinda Alexandra wrote an indepth interesting book that kept you in it. I didn't "love" everything in this book but it was the horror of that time and it made the gentle, the beauty stand out that much more. That grain of God that shows itself in the development of a baby, a girl, a woman, a mother. Man's inhumanity to man is appalling, disgusting but she wrote a book you can know it, read it, and still pray for these characters to make it thru. Wow, it was just so well done. For me, a listener, only Kate Morton, maybe Ann Patchett have written books with this detail. For me it is like watching a movie it plays in my head with this fabulous narrator. Also, it has that touch of the magical. I didn't mean to leave that out. She truly was a Tuscan Rose but this title belies the depth and scope of the book.

Too many personal diatribes about authors opinions!!!!
She is a great writer and it's a very good story (although the love triangle and oppressed women scenario is very similar to her other works), but I cringed every time (and there were many times) she went on and on and on about animal cruelty, how horrible it is for people to eat meat, wear animal products etc. And at then end how she tried to tie that why man-kind is always at war. Come-on. The main character is way too "flawless" and the author portrays her as this perfect woman who knows everything, can do anything, and always thinks the "right" things. Please give me a realistic person and leave your personal opinions out of your fabulous writing and I would buy every one of your books. However, I don't think I can handle another book where I am constantly rolling my eyes as I starting listening to another lecture from the author (through the main character) on her opinions on social and political matters.

Great!
I really enjoyed the story and all the research that went into it. Wish I didn't hear the narrator sipping her water though!
