From New York Times best-selling author and master of suspense Lisa Unger comes an addictive psychological thriller about a woman on the hunt for her husband’s killer

What if the nightmares are actually memories?

It’s been a year since Poppy’s husband, Jack, was brutally murdered during his morning run through Manhattan’s Riverside Park. In the immediate aftermath, Poppy spiraled into an oblivion of grief, disappearing for several days only to turn up ragged and confused wearing a tight red dress she didn’t recognize. What happened to Poppy during those lost days? And more importantly, what happened to Jack?

The case was never solved, and Poppy has finally begun to move on. But those lost days have never stopped haunting her. Poppy starts having nightmares and blackouts - there are periods of time she can’t remember, and she’s unable to tell the difference between what is real and what she’s imagining. When she begins to sense that someone is following her, Poppy is plunged into a game of cat and mouse, determined to unravel the mystery around her husband’s death. But can she handle the truth about what really happened?

Great book but....

I really enjoyed this book but the psychological parts got a little hard to follow & too detailed, especially as she went back & forth in time. Could have trimmed at least an hour+ without the redundancy...but would still recommend this book.

a lot going on

story kept me guessing who done it. I had to rewind more than a few times trying to keep up with all the characters. I would like more thrills and less romance. Overall a good read.

Too long and too deep into skin

It is a very interesting story and I
enjoyed listening. However, it really
needs an editor. It could become a
tight suspense story except for the
incessantly repeated dreams.
Cut by three hours.

Pretty good

The story was really good and had potential to be better, but I had no idea she was going back and forth in time until about half way through the book. The time jumps aren't labeled so just keep in mind that some parts are past and some are present. After I figured this out, I had a hard time enjoying and listening to the rest of the book because I was constantly thinking back on what was past and present to put the rest of the story together. Vivienne Leheny is my favorite narrator so she can make anything sound better than it is.

Great thriller!

I love Lisa Ungers books! She never disappoints. This was a good story and kept you guessing till the end. It was just a little too long. I read and back and forth which made it to faster.

Wow!!! And I read a LOT

This was sooooo well written- and the narrortor was unreal!! Lisa Unger wrote an excellent depiction of grief and substance use disorder wrapped in a traumatic event that derailed poor Poppy! But I listened to the whole book in 2 days- it should be a movie and win awards !

Strange Book

This book was unusual for Lisa Unger, all written in the first person but travelling backwards and forwards in time which was a little confusing at times. The narrator, Vivienne Leheny, did an excellent job and I couldn't imagine any other narrator doing such a splendid job as she did. She brought the book to life and it needed to be told in her voice. Without this great narration the story could have been quite ordinary and somewhat disjointed. Unlike other listeners I thought the ending was quite good.

Worth time to listen...

Love the book once I got pass the first few chapters (these are needed to build the background, but I didn’t know that until I got further in the book)!
