About this listen

Bear shifter Rune hates wolf shifters. Wolves and the hunter organization Archangel have taken too much from him and the only good wolf is a dead wolf...so when a howl goes up in Black Ridge territory, Rune is out for blood. Only he's not prepared for the sleek, beautiful, and fiery female he finds trapped in a hunter's snare...or the shadow of his past she has on her tail.

On the run from a pack leader determined to enslave her, Callie is desperate to reach the sanctuary of the White Wolf pack. When she finds herself caught in a trap, things look as if they can't get any worse...until a mountain of a man emerges from the night, an ice-cold bear who is equal parts alluring and terrifying, and might just be the key to securing her freedom.

Can Callie crack the ice around Rune's heart and convince him to help her? And when the price of his revenge is risking getting another female killed, will Rune be willing to pay it?

Contains mature themes.

Another good bear shifter story!

The following ratings are out of 5:
Romance: 🩵🖤❤️💚
Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📕📗📙📘📔
World building: 🌏🌍🌎🌏🌎
Character development: ☹️☺️😍😄
Narrator(s): 🎙🎙🎙🎙
Narration type: Dual Narration

The Hero: Rune - he was a black bear shifter. In the past, he had been captured by Archangel, the mortal hunter organization and he had been forced to fight in their arenas. He believed that time had changed him into an angry beast. He hated all wolf shifters as well and blames them as well as the Archangel for taking everything from him. When he hears a wolf on Bear land on Black Ridge Mountain, he wants nothing more than to kill that wolf.

The heroine: Callie - she was running from alpha Kerrigan’s pack. That pack thought that female shifters were good for nothing more than serving them and being available for all the males in the pack whenever they wanted. She had heard that the alpha of the white wolf pack would take in any wolf that needed refuge. So, she was running from Kerrigan and his wolves, trying to make it to the white wolf pack where they were more progressive in their treatment of females. However, when she was traveling, she got caught in a hunter’s snare and couldn’t get her leg out and couldn’t shift without hurting herself more.

The Story: Rune found Callie and freed her from the snare, he held her captive and took her to a nearby cabin. Rune was gruff and grumpy with Callie; he hated wolves and didn’t treat her very nicely at first, especially because she made him feel things that he wasn’t used to. When he heard her story and heard about what was happening in Kerrigan’s pack, he got angry, and he wanted to fight them all on her behalf.

I have read this whole series, and all the books were pretty good. They were not so good that I would read any of them again, but good enough that I really did enjoy them. They don’t need to be read in order, I read them all out of order but enjoyed them just as much. The one thing I didn’t like was that the bears referred to their group as a pride. I looked it up and that is not what a group of bears is called. They are called a sloth, pack, maul, or sleuth.

This audiobook was told in dual points of view via dual narration and was narrated by Troy Duran and Elizabeth Hart. Troy Duran is one of my favorite male narrators with a deep, sexy voice that I really like. Elizabeth Hart has a voice that grates on my nerves a bit, though she does sound natural and not like she is reading. Her voice doesn’t annoy me enough to stop listening, but there are a lot of female narrators, I like better than her.
