About this listen

An Orks Novel

Witness a battle royale between feuding ork bosses in a fight for the position of Warboss – and access to a legendary gate that will help the orks conquer the galaxy.

LISTEN TO IT BECAUSE

It’s a raucous and bloody boyz-eye-view of a war for succession between six clans, told with typically orky flair by Mike Brooks.

THE STORY

With only one bastion still standing on the once unconquerable fortress world of Aranua, Warboss Gazrot Goresnappa should be basking in the light of impending victory. Instead, he lies ‘proppa dead’ beneath a decapitated Gargant’s head.

The biggest and baddest bosses from each of the six (no-longer-united) clans step forward to duke it out to become the next warboss – but the ork gods have other plans. A prophecy foretells of a mysterious gate that lies beneath the human city. The one true warboss will be the first to find it, and will use it to turn the galaxy green. Da Genrul of the Blood Axes knows only he is worthy, but it seems Evil Sunz Speedboss Zagnob and Goff Big Boss Mag Dedfist didn’t get the memo. And to add insult to injury, nor did the leader of the grot uprising, the one true prophet of Gork and Mork (or so he claims), Snaggi Littletoof, who seeks to use this opportunity to turn the tide of grot oppression.

Who will the green gods deem worthy?

A great bit of ork fun!

First off, the narrator adds so much to this book, he is easily my favorite narrator i've heard for orks so far. A decent competiiton that is, too.

Secondly, if you are looking for just short of nine hours of solid, orky goodness from their point of view primarily (A seemingly hard feat, but done well here!) look no farther. The book takes place over a sort of race for various orks and ork clans to get to the same objective, with various viewpoints for each. It is a pretty well written but most of all FUN book with the various aspects of orkish kultur and action. If i had to deduct some points, some of the action scenes were a little samey and drawn out, even for an orky book. Still though great book.

I reccomend! WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGH!

orky fun

loved it. Orks just have more fun, and the narrator was perfect for this book.

a follow-up to Brutal kunnin

a great ork book that shows some love to most of the factions of 40k, and a good Segway from Brutal kunnin to the next Blackhawk book

Proper Ork

I love everything about the Orkiness of this book. From the constant hilarious perspective of Orks/Grots to the great voice overs this book is everything I wanted in a title.

This is technically a sequel?

I didn't realise that this was a Sequel to Brutal Kunnin by the same author. If you like the protagonists from the last one and want to hear more stories about them, you might be disappointed. They're not really in this one, they just get mentioned.
But the book introduces a bunch of other characters instead that you might like, then kills off 90% of them. Which is weird.
It's an alright book, I guess, but I think you can easily just skip it.

Dat was ded good!

Mike Brooks has started to carve out an interesting corner of the 40k universe, as the chronicler of events in one particular WAAAGH!! Writing greenskins, both from the perspective of orks and gretchin, it’s full of action and ork politics (yes really) it’s got eldar and IG, what more do you need! Harry Myers narration was outstanding.
