Publisher's summary

After bursting onto the fantasy scene with his acclaimed debut novel, Elantris, and following up with his blockbuster Mistborn trilogy, Brandon Sanderson proves again that he is today's leading master of what Tolkien called "secondary creation", the invention of whole worlds, complete with magics and myths all their own.

Warbreaker is the story of two sisters who happen to be princesses, the God King one of them has to marry, the lesser god who doesn't like his job, and the immortal who's still trying to undo the mistakes he made hundreds of years ago. Their world is one in which those who die in glory return as gods to live confined to a pantheon in Hallandren's capital city and where a power known as BioChromatic magic is based on an essence known as breath that can be collected only one unit at a time from individual people. By using breath and drawing upon the color in everyday objects, all manner of miracles and mischief can be accomplished. It will take considerable quantities of each to resolve all the challenges facing Vivenna and Siri, princesses of Idris; Susebron, the God King; Lightsong, reluctant god of bravery; and mysterious Vasher, the Warbreaker.

Sanderson's Imagination Amazes

Great narration by Bresnahan giving life to all the characters as she presents another fully formed world of magic in Sanderson's fantasy universe. The level of detail is unparalleled and the story will keep you on the edge of your seat.

Not Sandersons best work

It was a good book, but I'd place it below the storm light archive, mistborn trilogy, and elantris. I loved the world and magic system of warbreaker. If I had to nitpick (which I am) anything about this book, I'd say Sanderson held his little plot secrets for too long. All the excitement in this book happens in the last 30 minutes.

Tie ins!!

I started with the Mistborn Trilogy and dove into the Stormlight Archive with vigor...Brandon has such a huge scope and vision and the more I read the more things are connected. Just by itself, Warbreaker isn't such an amazing book but it really develops the concept of breath and after the cliffhanger in Rhythm of War.......Hoid....just.....ahhhhhh!!!!!

Fantastic

Love the cosmere books, but this one personally stands out to me. The narrator is clear and the story is deep and has a clean wrap up

Pretty fun read

I found the story to be fun with some enjoyable characters. I wasn't a huge fan of the narration, but she did a fine enough job. Worth a listen, especially if you are invested into the Cosmere. Some of the characters show up in other Cosmere books and its always cool to see Hoid, the Waldo of this universe.

very very unique story

overall it was wonderful, there were only a few moments I wasnt thrilled about, but it was so minor i cant even recall the specifics. the magic system and world building is wonderfully unique and the main plot and actors are not quite as unique but overall it was extremely well written and there were many times i found my jaw hanging wide open during this listen

Great world building

Slow to start and not a whole lot of action. Although it is a shorter Sanderson book. Still worth a listen in my opinion.

Really enjoyed this book.

Magic system was unique, writing was good, story was great. I will say I found myself less interested in the Eldest Sisters perspective but overall was pleased with the different points of view. At first I thought the book was going be extremely predictable, after the first few chapters I will say I was bored, and in some ways it was very predictable but in the ways that mattered I was surprised. I really enjoyed the flushing out of the relationships and was very happy with my purchase. The book much deserved it’s 5 star review. Good job, sad to see you go but it was a great ride.
