Resumen del Editor
What's holding you back? Your hard work is paying off. You are doing well in your field. But there is something standing between you and the next level of achievement. Perhaps one small flaw, a behavior you barely even recognize, is the only thing that's keeping you from where you want to be.
Who can help? Marshall Goldsmith is an expert at helping global leaders overcome their (sometimes unconscious) annoying habits and attaining a higher level of success. His one-on-one coaching comes with a six-figure price tag. But with this audiobook, you'll get Marshall's great advice without the hefty fee!
What is the solution? The Harvard Business Review asked Goldsmith, "What is the most common problem faced by the executives that you coach?" Inside, he answers this question by discussing not only the key beliefs of successful leaders, but also the behaviors that hold them back. He addresses the fundamental problems that often come with success and offers ways to attack them. Goldsmith outlines 20 habits commonly found in the corporate environment and provides a systematic approach to helping executives achieve a positive change in behavior.

In business, the right behaviors matter. But getting it right is tricky. Even when we acknowledge the need to change what we do and how we do it, life has a habit of getting in the way, upsetting even the best-laid plans. And just how do we manage those situations that can provoke even the most rational among us into behaving in ways we would rather forget?

With this book as their guide, listeners can close the gap between what they plan to achieve and what they actually get done—and avoid the trap of existential regret, the kind that reroutes destinies and persecutes our memories.

We live in a world that’s obsessed with talent. We celebrate gifted students in school, natural athletes in sports, and child prodigies in music. But admiring people who start out with innate advantages leads us to overlook the distance we ourselves can travel. We underestimate the range of skills that we can learn and how good we can become. We can all improve at improving. And when opportunity doesn’t knock, there are ways to build a door.

Being a CEO at any of the world’s largest companies is among the most challenging roles in business. Billions, and even trillions, are at stake—and the fates of tens of thousands of employees often hang in the balance. Yet, even when “can’t miss” high-achievers win the top job, very few excel. For those who shoulder the burden of being the one on whom everyone counts, a manual for excellence is sorely needed. To identify the 21st century’s best CEOs, the authors of CEO Excellence started with a pool of over 2,400 public company CEOs.

We've all had experiences with two dramatically different types of leaders. The first type drain intelligence, energy, and capability from the people around them and always need to be the smartest people in the room. These are the idea killers, the energy sappers, the diminishers of talent and commitment. On the other side of the spectrum are leaders who use their intelligence to amplify the smarts and capabilities of the people around them.

Someone must have made a terrible mistake. If you are a working woman, chances are this internal monologue sounds all too familiar. And you're not alone. Questioning thousands of parents and educators, Dr. Wayne Dyer learned firsthand what people really want for their children. They don't particularly want their kids to go to fancy schools, acquire riches, or live "the good life". They do want them to have personal integrity and high self-esteem, and to grow up with love and peace in their hearts. Children raised the Wayne Dyer way feel useful and needed. They are inner- rather than outer-directed. They live a stress-free life naturally, without resorting to drugs.

In this edition, Dweck offers new insights into her now famous and broadly embraced concept. They actually have vastly different styles and backgrounds. Yet despite their differences, great managers share one common trait: They don’t hesitate to break virtually every rule held sacred by conventional wisdom. They don’t believe that, with enough training, a person can achieve anything he sets his mind to. They don’t try to help people overcome their weaknesses. And, yes, they even play favorites. In this longtime management bestseller, Gallup presents the remarkable findings of its massive in-depth study of great managers.

I enjoyed the book. For me the value was in hearing Goldsmith talk about annoying & distracting habits, some of which plague me. In listening to his discussion of the habits I learned a few things about myself. Now I can change a few behaviors that may have been annoying others and holding me back.

Wrong title for the book
Should be named, bad habits from successful people. I was expecting the book to focus more on the fact that after you get to a senior position you are as much qualified as most of the people around you, and you must differentiate yourself. Also the reader is extremely boring, I couldn’t listen to it while driving, cause I started falling sleep.

What to, and Not to do...
To start with, this is a good book written by someone who knows what they are doing. I learned a lot. What makes this book even more special is that the author made a point of sharing those things that get in the way of your success (what Not to do). This Not part is not a part of many self help books. I for one found the Nots quite helpful.

Eye opening
This book is eye opening. We often think if I just continue with what has made me successful, I will become more successful but that is far from the truth. I appreciate the insights and perspective.

Takeaways galore!
This was pure gold and I've recommended it to colleagues that are aspiring managers and family that are already in management.

Great information too long
You would think that it wouldn't be that complicated to be more effective. Apparently it is. It might be good to read this book in short segments.

good ideas
The writer can get a bit negative, especially in the first 2 chapters, but he has really good ideas.
