Publisher's summary
The Wheel of Time is now an original series on Prime Video, starring Rosamund Pike as Moiraine!
In Winter's Heart, the ninth novel in Robert Jordan’s #1 New York Times bestselling epic fantasy series, The Wheel of Time®, Rand al'Thor and his friends face personal trials in their quests to build alliances against the Dark One.
After locating Masema Dagar, the Prophet of the Dragon, on Rand’s behalf, Perrin Aybara returns to his encampment to discover his wife Faile has been abducted by the Shaido Aiel. Determined to reclaim her, Perrin forgoes his mission, risking his army in pursuit of a dangerous and unpredictable enemy.
Wounded and trapped in the Seanchan-occupied city of Ebou Dar, Mat Cauthon is awaiting an opportunity to leave. But he is not the only one in hiding. Three Aes Sedai are desperate to escape. As Mat seeks a way to smuggle them all out of the city, he encounters his own prophesized fate when he meets the Daughter of the Nine Moons.
Rand himself is on a mission of vengeance. He has tracked the traitorous Asha’man who tried to kill him to Far Madding. It is a city where no one is capable of channeling the One Power, leaving Rand vulnerable to those who would stop at nothing to destroy the Dragon Reborn…
Since its debut in 1990, The Wheel of Time® by Robert Jordan has captivated millions of readers around the globe with its scope, originality, and compelling characters. The last six books in series were all instant #1 New York Times bestsellers, and The Eye of the World was named one of America's best-loved novels by PBS's The Great American Read.

It has been 20 years since the end of the war. The dictatorial Augurs, once thought of almost as gods, were overthrown and wiped out during the conflict, their much-feared powers mysteriously failing them. Story
Minalan gave up a promising career as a professional warmage to live the quiet life of a village spellmonger in the remote mountain valley of Boval. It was a peaceful, beautiful little fief, far from the dangerous feudal petty squabbles of the Five Duchies, on the world of Callidore. There were cows. Lots of cows. And cheese. For six months things went well: He found a quaint little shop, he befriended the local lord, the village folk loved him, he found a sharp young apprentice to help out, and, best yet, he met a comely young widow with the prettiest eyes.

The city of the gods. Elantris once stood as the symbol of all that is beautiful. A sprawling metropolis of unrivaled grandeur, it was a symbol of power and strength, built to be as imposing as it was magnificent. The only thing more glorious than the city itself was its inhabitants, Godlike beings, with silvery skin and hair of the purest, flowing white. Able to create powerful magics with a mere wave of their hands, the Elantrians were able to heal mortal wounds and create any object they desired. To be an Elantrian was to be without sickness, without pain and without want.

Magic, adventure, mystery, and romance combine in this epic debut in which a young princess must reclaim her dead mother’s throne, learn to be a ruler - and defeat the Red Queen, a powerful and malevolent sorceress determined to destroy her. On her 19th birthday, Princess Kelsea Raleigh Glynn, raised in exile, sets out on a perilous journey back to the castle of her birth to ascend her rightful throne. Plain and serious, a girl who loves books and learning, Kelsea bears little resemblance to her mother, the vain and frivolous Queen Elyssa.

Princess Inos lived an idyllic life in her fathers' sleepy, backwater kingdom, and she was best friends with her childhood companion, the stableboy, Rap. But when a prophecy seemed to say Inos should be married, she was exiled to the Impire to learn to be a lady. She was far away when Rap's magical talents began to emerge, and it was he who told her of the fate awaiting them both.

You define life or it defines you. In Shawn Speakman’s case, it was both. Lacking health insurance and diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma in 2011, Shawn quickly accrued a massive medical debt that he did not have the ability to pay. That’s when New York Times best-selling author Terry Brooks offered to donate a short story that Shawn could sell to help alleviate those bills—and suggested he ask the same of his other writer friends. Unfettered is the result: An anthology built in order to relieve that debt, featuring short stories by some of the best fantasy writers in the genre.

Better book than previous
I thought this book in the series had better movement. The ending was a little chaotic, and left a lot of wondering what happened. I am glad I do not have to wait to listen to the next book.
The readers do a good job, although a few names are pronounced differently in this book. It took me a minute to realize Moga-dene was the same person as MogId-ene. There are several new characters without any character development, or minimal.
I felt like Naneve was less annoying in this book. Also much less skirt smoothing and sniffing going on.
I think you will enjoy this book in TWOT.

Finally!
After the agonizing slowness of the last 3 novels, there is finally some action and the writing closer to what it was in the beginning. The character development is improving after everyone becoming pretty detestable in those middle novels. Things are starting to come full circle. However, even though it feels like years have passed, it has all taken place in a relatively short period of time, which is completely unbelievable, especially since traveling with the power just became a thing.

Great and wonderful
Just wonderful! This and the previous books seem a favorite. Also this one seems to be, avoiding big spoilers Matt's book and something else very great that you'll find out. A hint, if you've read the previous book, you can guess where it might let to... In the beginning, new concepts and places laid down for listeners pleasure, when you think you've known all types of things and places... Enjoy!

Good enough to slow down going through
Having listened to and read through the other 8 books leading up to this, I found this book good enough to slow my pace to relish the experience. It had a good story line and hit the right sort of slow burn points without becoming ponderous and without losing the thread of the story.

Combined Power
I notice that male reviewers refer to the books that feature more women’s action as a slog. While that is a generalization on my part, I am amused that I enjoy these chapters more.
