    Now we all know what a pandemic is. Jerry explains how in 1918, the Babe beat the Spanish flu, also known as influenza, twice even though it took the lives of more Americans than the Civil War. Ruth, then with the Boston Red Sox, was hospitalized in the spring but recovered and went on to star as a pitcher and hitter. He caught it again in the fall during the World Series, but in an inspirational performance won two games and led his Red Sox to the championship.

    In Episode 1 Jerry speaks to members of the Ruth family... his grandson Tom Stevens and daughter Julia Ruth Stevens who passed away last year at age 102. Jerry spent an afternoon with Julia when she was 94, and she revealed insights into the Babe that only she would know.

    Jerry also speaks to Joe Orlando & David Kohler, executives from the sports collecting industry, Michael Gibbons, the man who ran the Babe Ruth Museum in Baltimore for 37 years, and Pete Enfield of the licensing firm handling the Babe Ruth name and family for sponsorship and promotions.
