  • Ben Munro - How to show up for your mates (Episode 7)
    Feb 10 2022

Ben Munro is a father, friend, President of Currumbin Beach Vikings Surf Lifesaving Club, and occasional Barrister-at-Law. Following his own journey of self-realisation, Ben has immersed himself in developing his skills to support family, friends, clients and colleagues to discover their truth and grow towards a more authentic life. Ben’s purpose in life is to create meaningful connections and to be a true friend to assist others to identify their own purpose. He is particularly passionate about youth development and supporting men in their transition to Eldership, a path along which Ben continues to wander himself.

    On the show we discuss:

"You've got to be willing. If you're not willing, there's no point. You've got to at some point, and this is the point about rolling in the Ashes when all of your false gods left let you down."

"It's it's not conversations between two men where the other the other fella just buys into your stuff and and just doubles down on the judgment or the blame or whatever, it's it's it's you mate that actually says, you know, after a moment of reflection and a little bit of a pause. What do you reckon is going on there for you?"

"There's just a trustworthiness about being in nature. There's no bullshit with nature. It's real and it's ancient."

"We go through life and all this commercialism tells us that everything's got to be comfort and happy and joy, and it's unrealistic because the whole of life is the other side of that. Life is equally grief and some pain and shame and all of these things. But understanding that and letting and letting all of that come"

"I think blokes, particularly breadwinners and guys that try and hold their families together, and they're all things to all people and and doing a great job, absolutely. But all of that drive is is not here. It's it's all mostly with an eye on the future. Everything will be alright if I can just line up these ducks. Hmm. Which means that if you're spending if you're spending 90 per cent of your time in your mind in the future. You know, I had a very. One of my very wise teachers reminded me that, you know, your life is where your awareness is"

  • David Reid - Being comfortable with change (Episode 6)
    Jan 31 2022

David is a great mate of 25 years. We have gone through many journeys, growing up on the Gold Coast, rugby to dance floors, travelling the world and starting businesses.

David  is currently working on some incredible projects which focuses on supporting individuals and communities to find their inner compass for a greater change in humanity.

Some of the topics we dive into

-The deep purpose for men to be connected to nature

-Being comfortable with change and uncertainty. is a big opportunity for self work

    - If we still want to stay plugged into that or hold onto that, it's going to cause a lot of suffering being comfortable with change

-The importance ofTaking the time to find what we love, what we're passionate about within community

-We're part of Technologies, Technologies, part of us, we can use technology for good, and if we tap into that, it can be really supportive.

-it's essential, you know, to be able to hang out with like minded men that you can share whatever's going on for you. I think it just makes us better people to then go back to whatever lives we have, whether it's our partner or our family.

-With any great transition as you're going through it and you can't see the end result, it feels, you know, that squeeze. Yeah. And the death of something inside of us feels very overwhelming and very uncomfortable. But at the other end of it, when whatever that is is died, whether it's the ego or aspects of self, then you realize you're still here.

-Solutions that birth out of that usually create a very different society. And that's what we're seeing now is actually seeing solutions that are manifesting and we don't even know.

-Do the daily work to stay open and realize that change is coming.

  • Linzey Beister - Waiting is suffering (Episode 5)
    Jan 7 2022

    Waiting is suffering

Linzey Beister is an initiated man who is dedicated to men's work, mental health, building mature masculine traits. Linzey currently runs in person and online men's groups, offers somatic therapeutic mentoring and currently offering THE ORDER - a 5 week integration to have men claim what they want in life. He is a man on a mission. https://www.linzeybeister.com/the-order-program

On this episode we take a deep into fear, grief and what it means to be a man today:

“it's knowing, what do I need right now? Who do I need to be being not? What do I want? So who do I need to be in this moment to get the results that I want in my life? And it's having that articulation or what I call the emotional intelligence”

“We do it and we judge and we and we compare and then we potentially shame ourselves, guilt ourselves, make ourselves less than whatever part of us that is wounded or. Tender, vulnerable, and then what do we do with that? We stuff it down and make a partner, try and love that part of us that we don't love in ourselves”,

“How do you know you love something until you've lost it?”

Fear of if I look inside of myself, I might not be able to. Keep working. I might not be able to keep this relationship or keep it all together. And then my whole cardboard cut out version of myself being some heroic leader of my family or boss or whatever it is, it's just the most flimsiest little facade that you know, I can't stop. I can't change anything that I'm doing right now because it would mean death. You know, the literal death of me or my death of my ego, which is so often the case. And so it's the I'm just going to pack it up even more or I'm just going to drink or I'm going to take some substance to make myself feel better”.

"Sadness is an emotion that we need to feel so we can feel grief. So then we can feel love because we don't get to just do up all the time.”

Yeah. So the work, you know, the work never ends. It's just layer upon layer. How deep do you want to go? How well do you want to know yourself and know others?”

“There's fear there. You know, there's fear to just moment to moment, take that. Take that leap every day, lean into that edge every day, you know, and I want that. So. I call men forward, and that's what I'm doing this year”

  • Brad Fennell - The importance of creating you own life (Episode 4)
    Jan 1 2022

Brad Fennell is a qualified acupuncturist who has been in practice for over 20 years. He evolved the philosophies and counselling techniques fundamental to Traditional Chinese Medicine to become a facilitator and coach for individuals, coup[es and groups, with a particular passion for mens work. He now consults online with individuals world wide helping them to understand and unfold their own unique way.

On this episode we dive deep into such topics as:

-What am I really here to do? Who am I really here to be? How do I do the work that I'm really here to do? How do I leave a legacy?

-“How fluid can you be? Can you be more masculine in this moment? Because that's what's needed? “Sometimes you need a sword and sometimes you need flowers in love. Do you bring your sword to the relationship or do you bring flowers to a war?”

-And it's like gravity. Your mission is. I tend to call it your myth, your life myth, your mission, whatever you want to call it is like gravity. It's a force that's coming through your life and it's trying to take you back there. And everything that's going on with your life is trying to bring you back all the challenges.”

“Get really quiet. And listen to the deepest part of you”

  • Steve Morley "Going with your Gut"- (Episode 3)
    Dec 19 2021

It was my absolute pleasure in having Steve Morley on the podcast. Steve is doing great things within the mens community holding retreats, running The Mateshop podcast and also now opening a pottery and art studio in Burleigh Heads on the Gold Coast.

We discussed Steve’s journey from relationship breakups, the importance of having other men to listen, changing your internal beliefs and how important it is to trust your gut.

Follow the link in bio to find link to Apple and Spotify podcasts.

    A little about Steve below:

After stepping away from a 27 year relationship, he found myself empowered. Free from the conditioning and imprisonment, behind the white picket fence. He felt  he  did not have the skills or emotional intelligence to work through that relationship with my family.

His  journey since then,  allowed him to build community and help others to find that inner power and be present for him to embrace relationships.

Creating  a successful building certification and  creative co-working space, has allowed him  to provide a space where men can feel they are free from judgement .he has found that gives them, the opportunity to find their own power.

He now knows by talking, it lifts the burden for him. He gains energy from other men’s conversation ,to find that we are all on a constant battle to find ourselves.

Steve hosts The Mateshop podcast, where men and Steve he talks  I talk to, share their experience and spread words of positivity that can change lives.

Building on my creativity always keeps a positive space in his head and hecan learn to feel even more power with self expression and art.
