Cancer IRL

By: Desiree Deleau and Iva Golubovic
  • Summary

  • Being in your 20s or 30s and having cancer means sometimes you Google your symptoms and end up being right about the self diagnosis. It means your career might be going on pause, it means you may need to speak to your partner about kids a lot sooner than you thought. It means you will likely need to develop a great sense of humour. It means you may need to reevaluate your friendships. It means a lot of things, and not all of them are discussed, understood, nor treatable in a doctor's office. This is a podcast about all of those things, in conversation with people who have gone through them, or love someone who has.

We often think that cancer patients living in Canada should consider themselves lucky that so much of the financial burden is taken care of, but Ariele is an example of what it looks like to fall between the cracks of both the public and personal healthcare system.
