Annette is an actor and director from Vancouver BC. She went through her stage 3 B Colon cancer journey while also being a mom. Self advocacy is the running theme through her story, both in her personal experience and unfortunately her sister's experience as well.

Ariele's thyroid cancer diagnosis sent her life down a difficult path on which physical health concerns played a secondary part. This conversation more then any other we've had to date highlights the effects of cancer on mental health, career and finances. We often think that cancer patients living in Canada should consider themselves lucky that so much of the financial burden is taken care of, but Ariele is an example of what it looks like to fall between the cracks of both the public and personal healthcare system.

In this two part conversation we speak with Alyssa about her stage 4 stomach cancer diagnosis. We spoke with her first at the early stages of her treatment, then caught up with her post finishing a trial treatment. She tells us about the delays in her screenings, poor bedside manner, the necessity for self advocacy, and the psychological navigations of a long term illness.

Lindsay's journey with stage 3 triple negative breast cancer started at 8 months pregnant. Her story is one of willpower and positivity, which radiates off of her even in our talk. She kept a detailed journal throughout her experience which she's shared with her ever growing community and now with us.

Dani was diagnosed with stage 3 colorectal cancer in her early twenties. She speaks to us about her journey from diagnosis, to now ten years later being an oncology social worker and cancer researcher. Dani comes with a wealth of knowledge acquired through personal experience and years of work in the cancer space. We are so lucky we got to speak to and learn so much from her.

Michelle’s heavy periods were dismissed as just that. It was only after advocating for herself and getting screened that her treatments avalanched. She walks us through the medical world of Leukemia, and the her emotional journey which she shared with her partner, tight knit family, and the LA creative community.
