  • How to Make More Meaningful Connections with Local Bus Driver Nick
    May 17 2024

In this episode, I talk with my friend Nick, a local bus driver here in the city, and together we talk about how people can make more meaningful connections. We get to learn a bit more about Nick and his upbringing. We also talk a little bit about what it means to have neutral jing (an Avatar the Last Airbender term) and it's important to also take care of ourselves.

This is a fun mostly light-hearted conversation, that's also very informative. I hope you enjoy it as much as I had being in it, editing it and listening back to it!

  • A Dancer's Perspective on Joy Part 1 with Rachel Helten
    Apr 26 2024

In this episode, I talk with my cousin Rachel Helten! Rachel is a dance artist, choreographer, teacher, healing facilitator and mentor. In part 1 of this conversation, Rachel shares her story with us, we talk about our own experiences in dance and what gets in the way of us experiencing joy. In this conversation, Rachel and I don't shy away from the fact that joy and pain are 2 feelings that come hand in hand, and so we do talk about how dance has also hurt us both in some way.

This conversation is at the same time funny, gentle and kind. I hope you come to understand why Rachel is one of my favourite people with this podcast!

  • Competitive Irish Dancer Culture with Oona from Wmh_x_0 | My Irish Dance Story Part 4
    Apr 12 2024

    Hello everyone!

Welcome to part 4 of My Irish Dance Story! Thank you so much for listening. Today I have a special guest, Oona from the Instagram page @wmh_x_0!

In this episode, Oona and I talk about our experiences in the competitive Irish dance world. We talk about a whole bunch of different topics, such as grief, self-worth and shame. We also try to focus our conversation into thinking about words and phrases that the competitive scene choose to build their culture off of and we talk about how some of those words don't fit our lived experiences.

This conversation will be a two-parter, so tune in next week for the second half of our conversation!

This was a really healing conversation for me, and I wanted to extend a wholehearted thank you to Oona for coming onto the podcast and chatting with me. It's been amazing knowing that I'm not alone in my weird, specific pain. Thank you for validating my experiences.

  • Belonging To Yourself with Allan Morgan Part 2
    Apr 5 2024

Here's part 2 of my conversation with Allan Morgan!

In this episode, Allan and I talk more about how he got into acting and how his love for acting shaped who is is now. Towards the end of this conversation we then dive into my typical rapid fire questionnaire. I'm so grateful to have had a chance to meet Allan on the podcast and for getting the chance to hear his story.

Be warned, this conversation will have some colourful, mature language and will be talking about some traumatic things. Please take care of yourself.

  • Belonging To Yourself with Allan Morgan Part 1
    Mar 29 2024

In this episode, I talk with three time Jesse award winning theatre, television and film actor and gay rights activist, Allan Morgan. Allan makes his podcast debut with Dear Brambling Podcast and I'm so honoured to have him! In this conversation, Allan tells us a bit about his story growing up back in Ontario. Allan also holds space for my grief while I share with him my recent traumatic story. He also delves into one of his most memorable relationships he had, the grief of loosing him the same year I was born. More importantly, however Allan and I discuss what it means to belong to yourself. After listening back to this conversation, I was trying to find a word that encapsulates our conversation, and the only word I could come up with is: beautiful.

Be warned, this conversation will have some colourful, mature language and will be talking about some traumatic things. Please take care of yourself.

I hope you enjoy the first part of this conversation as much as I did, and the next part will be coming out next week!
