    As a former athlete, Jarrod is active within the sports tech community, serving as a mentor with the leAD Sports Accelerator and the Athlete Development Lab.     Our special guest is Joy Cho. She is a pastry chef based in Brooklyn, NY. She studied political science at UChicago before moving out to the east coast, attended pastry school at the Institute of Culinary Education while working a day job, and fully switched over to pastry work in 2019. She externed at Oxalis, a one Michelin star Brooklyn bistro and worked as a pastry cook at Gramercy Tavern, an iconic restaurant in NYC's Flatiron district, before losing her job due to COVID-19 in March 2020.

    Joy then launched an Instagram business, Joy Cho Pastry, and most recently developed a product called Gem Cakes that are available for purchase in the NYC area. Joy's writing/recipes have appeared in Basically, Food52, and Bon Appétit, and she has been mentioned by Grub Street, Eater, and Food & Wine. In efforts to create a solution, he founded Black Men of Valor to create a haven where Black men could establish a brotherhood built on mentorship, career development, and progressive deliberations.
