    Ayyyyy! I can not believe we’ve made it to the end of Season 9. That’s nine seasons over the past three years. I’m so grateful to all my listeners for continued support and for taking us over 7200 downloads. And to all my guests this season who have taken time out of their days to share their stories to inspire others.

    This season was amazing as we featured phenomenal mujeres, who are sharing their brilliance, their passion, their expertise, and their wisdom with others in their community. Cuz we don’t gate keep around here. We learn, we grow, and then we pour back into our communities.

    Hey! Today’s episode is a little different because I have a HUGE announcement. I’m going to be chatting with Monika from Our Latina Lens, who I had on the podcast previously on episode 75 in season 7.

    We are collaborating on a BIG event that will be hosted here in Chicago called the Cuentos Reframed - a three day summit for photographers and creatives! If you caught our live on Instagram last week, you already got a little bit of info on what we’ve been planning, but I wanted to create an episode that really dove into explaining what’s in store. This summit is the first of its kind as it’s planned, led, and facilitated by Latinas. We are so SO excited about this!

  • Stephanie Gomez: Going hard for the youth in our city, and stepping into her purpose by building a thriving community for Latinas

    Stephanie is a first-generation Latina from the Northside of Chicago. Her parents’ migration from Colombia fuels her passion for creating equitable and attainable economic opportunities for communities of color.

    As the Director of Career Launch Chicago with the City Colleges of Chicago, Stephanie collaborates with Chicago Public Schools and local businesses to develop and implement Youth Apprenticeships that connect high school students to college and career pathways.

    Most recently, Stephanie founded Rise and Thrive Latinas (RTL), a convener and curator of experiences that create opportunities to build community with other Latinas in Chicago and the Chicagoland area. Their signature offer, the RTL Book Club, has been incredibly successful in setting the tone for what RTL hopes to continue to provide by creating a community where members feel heard, seen, and supported, using books written by Latinas as a vehicle to have healing conversations about family dynamics, identity, pleasure and sexuality, and personal growth journeys.

    Stephanie has a BA in Sociology from Northeastern Illinois University with a minor in Latinx Studies and an MA in Latin American Studies from the University of Florida. She's an alum of the Civic Leadership Academy through University of Chicago and currently a member of the Mujeres de HACE Entrepreneur cohort where she is joined by 17 brilliant Latina entrepreneurs from all over the country.

    Dahlia a first-generation, Chicana-Indigenous educator dedicated to empowering communities through somatic social-emotional learning and restorative justice. Dahlia has earned a Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction focused on Community Engagement and a Certification in Somatic Healing Modalities. As a somatic movement healer, Dahlia guides people to be present with their bodies through meditative and somatic techniques designed to allow emotions to be processed and healed.

    Dahlia Quintanilla is the founder of Liberated Learning, an organization aimed at transforming learning environments to be restorative and healing-centered using community-based solutions and approaches.
