Very kelimesi, İngilizce'de sık sık kullanılan bir kelimedir. Ama sık sık kullanmak zorunda değiliz. Bu podcast'te very yerine kullanabileceğimiz ifadelere bakacağız.

Words to use instead of “very”

    Genel

    Extremely

Bill Gates is an extremely wealthy man.

    Incredibly

Zack’s Youtube channel is incredibly helpful.

    Amazingly

There is an amazingly simple way to improve your English.

    Very _____

1 Very good - Incredible, amazing, wonderful, awesome

My mom made a wonderful salad to go with our steaks.

    That was awesome. Good job.

2 Very bad - Horrible, terrible

I had a terrible day today.

My teacher in 3rd grade was horrible.

3 Very Angry - Outraged, enraged, furious

My dad was outraged when he heard about what my brother had done.

Our manager will be absolutely furious if she sees this.

    4 Very funny - hilarious

Then my mom told a hilarious story.

5 Very big - Enormous, gigantic, huge, massive

I made a massive mistake while building my computer.

There’s a huge lake behind my mom’s house.

6 Very happy/excited about something - ecstatic, thrilled,

    I’m thrilled to be here.

The children were ecstatic when they heard about the field trip.

7 Very tired - exhausted, wiped out, worn out

My mom was exhausted after working all day.

I was totally wiped out after we unloaded the trailer.

8 Very beautiful - gorgeous, stunning

    I married a gorgeous woman.

She looked absolutely stunning on her wedding day.

I was thrilled when my phone rang. I had just done an interview with an awesome company for an amazing job and I was waiting for a call-back. The company’s massive office building has a gorgeous view of the mountains and the workers all seem extremely happy. Some of them warned me by saying, “Not every day is going to be wonderful. Some days will be absolutely terrible. You’re going to be completely exhausted sometimes. Our boss has an incredibly short temper and will be furious if you don’t finish your work. But he also makes hilarious jokes from time to time, so it’s not all bad.”

According to Turkish tradition, when a family wants their son to get married, they first visit the potential wife and her family at home in order to inspect and (if all goes well) ask for her hand. In these courtship scenes it’s traditional for the bride-to-be to make Turkish coffee and serve it to her future in-laws, while they get to have a close look at her.

    Paragraf:

Anyone who is wrestling with philosophical questions should read Plato. He essentially laid the foundation for all of philosophy and had an impact on thinker long after his time. Some authors do nothing other than unpack the implications of Plato's writings. If you're reading something else, I would encourage you to put it on the back burner and start focusing on Plato. If you don't understanding something you can always reach out to the philosophy professor at your school.
