  • Ayurveda for Mental Health: Digesting food and life
    Apr 4 2024

The digestion of food and the digestion of life are intimately connected. If we're consuming food and activities that don't have prana or life force, the flow of our energy decreases. For example, if we consume heavily processed food regularly, it will affect our digestion and our mental capacity for life. It becomes a unhealthful cycle.

Agni on a cellular level, allows us to process, transform and make good use of what we consume. When we consume things that have life force and sattvic qualities, agni can build tissue, make ojas strong and the mind stable.

Join Myra Lewin, Founder of Hale Pule Ayurveda and Yoga, and Ericka, one of our Ayurvedic Health Counselors, as they discuss the important role agni has in maintaining mental health. Listen to Ericka's inspiring story of healing from depression, anxiety and Crohn's disease, and hear Myra's wisdom on what we can do each day to step fully into life.

    0:00 Introduction
    1:42 Ericka's healing journey
8:41 What impact does digestion have on mental health?
10:06 How agni helps us digest life
11:46 The role of vata dosha in mental health
15:23 Daily actions to support vata dosha
17:02 A note to those who are waiting to "feel better"

Are you ready to step fully into life? Join our Agni Therapy program. It's a transformational experience that'll teach you a foundation for living in health, harmony and happiness.

This podcast has had a profound impact on my life.

Hale Pule approaches the ancient wisdom of Ayurveda and Yoga with purity, sweetness, and simplicity. This wisdom I've learned from Myra has awakened me to achieve states of health (mental and physical) beyond anything I've ever dreamed. Anyone will benefit from the information in this podcast: whether you are a yogi wanting to be your highest self, or just somebody who wants to have more comfortable digestion (or if, like me, you are both!). I especially love her soothing and gentle voice. Now even just hearing the intro music puts me in a state of calm and clarity. Namaste, Myra!
