    Sep 27 2020

In a change to the planned episode, we have decided to go for a semi-live episode recorded Sunday 27th September 2020 and discuss the responses to UK going back into stricter measures for Covid-19, which for many will feel like entering into another 6 months of lockdown.

This episode looks at the subject of resilience. What does it mean? How can we improve resilience and what tips are out there to help people cope with further uncertainty?

    Sep 20 2020

This week has seen parts of the UK go back into increased measures for Covid-19. This includes many of us having to spend much more time at home again.

With the increased chance of those who are employed having to work at home even longer than they anticipated, we thought we would discuss how we have adapted to working from home so far and debate some of the tips for making working form home more productive.

  • Manchester Arena Bombing - Inspiration through adversity
    Sep 12 2020

On 22nd May 2017, an Islamist extremist suicide bomber detonated a homemade bomb as people were leaving the Manchester Arena following a concert by Ariana Grande.

Twenty-three people died, including the attacker, and more than 800 were wounded - some of them children. Several hundred more suffered psychological trauma.

In March 2020, the bomber’s brother, Hashem Abedi, was found guilty of 22 counts of murder in relation to the attack.

The incident was the deadliest terrorist attack and the first suicide bombing in the United Kingdom since the 7 July 2005 London bombings.

One of the victims, Martyn Hett, died at the age of 29. Martyn had worked in public relations and he was also a former winner of TV Show Come Dine With Me.

In this episode, we are joined by Martyn’s mum Figen Murray, who has spearheaded the campaign for Martyn’s law – named after her son, which was set to be introduced in an effort to tighten security at public venues.

On September 7th 2020, a public enquiry started into the circumstances of the Manchester Arena Bombing, the background to the attack and the emergency response. We caught up with Figen - Socially distanced over Zoom

What Figen has had to endure, overcome and how she has moved her own life forward after losing Martyn truly is inspirational.

  • Becoming Your Best Self
    Sep 6 2020

With this episode, we're back on the theme of self improvement , self empowerment and focusing on yourself. We'll be taking a look at a self development tool which is the series of Best Self Discovery Decks.

The Discovery Decks are prompt cards that inspire connection, confidence and creativity. There are nine themes to choose from. Each of the nine decks contain 150 prompt cards which contain questions or prompts for you to answer, think about and reflect upon.

Some of the packs are more challenging than others and we thought we'd live dangerously and draw some of the cards live during the episode and ask each other the questions! It was fun to do and prompted some rather interesting conversations!

  • Putting the fun into fundraising
    Aug 16 2020

If you’ve ever wondered about how to raise money for charity then you’re in the right place!

In this episode, we speak to Neil Hailwood who is an absolute mastermind when it comes to fundraising. He talks us through some of the many ideas he has had to raise funds for charities such as Derian House and Inspire Youth Zone

Neil has a busy full time job, yet he always seems to find the time to go above and beyond for causes that he cares about.

He also talks to us about his son, Matthew, a child with special educational needs and the challenges that brings, along with the amazing support he gets from his whole family including wife Tracey and daughter Lauren who he often ropes in when planning and organising events.

He has raised money for charity in so many different ways including a virtual ‘Play your cards right’ event, the Santa Dash, ChorFest and many more raising thousands of pounds at each event.

Neil is such an inspiration and so dedicated to helping others and we’re sure you’ll be inspired by him - we certainly are.
