You’ve heard it said, “If you can’t take the heat, get out of the kitchen.” However, if you truly treated the kitchen this way, nothing would ever get cooked — and if you treat your relationship with your child this way, connection will never happen either.

The heat of the kitchen is more than just physical temperature; there is also an aspect of emotional heat that is just as powerful, if not more, when it comes to our ability to manage ourselves in order to manage others and manage to get food on the table. That emotional heat doesn’t lend itself to connection, but warmth does.

In today’s podcast, I want to encourage you in encouraging your child in the kitchen even when things are not going the way you’d hoped. It’s going to happen, so you might as well be prepared as to how to stay connected when there appears to be a disconnect.
