The North Carolina Tar Heels released their 2024-25 college basketball non-conference schedule, with matchups set against Kansas, Alabama, Florida, and UCLA in addition to the Maui Invitational. Seeing a prominent program be willing to go on the road to face the Jayhawks, and generally play a tough schedule, is a welcome sight in the modern era.

The NCAA is expected to do away with scholarship limits, which will increase the number of scholarships for men's and women's basketball from 13 to 15. How will that impact various programs?

Drafting All-Americans is always a fun exercise. But what if you threw in a wrinkle? Each drafter can only select one player from each of the Power 5 basketball conferences: ACC, Big 12, Big East, Big Ten, and SEC. Additionally each quintet has to be a group that a coach would actually put on the floor for a basketball game. After that Isaac Schade and Leif Thulin will also select a 3-man bench built entirely from conferences outside the Power 5 (and yet again, all 3 have to be from different conferences). Mark Sears, RJ Davis, and Hunter Dickinson are all returning consensus All-Americans – will they be drafted? Will any freshmen make the cut – Cooper Flagg? Ace Bailey? VJ Edgecombe? Are their any surprises?

Ohio State released their non-conference schedule on Monday, which is mostly complete. The Buckeyes still have one more non-conference game to add which will be a neutral site contest. Coach Diebler’s first non-conference schedule has some nice high-level matchups, including the highest-profile opening day matchup we’ll get: Ohio State vs. Texas in Las Vegas.

Colorado also released their non-con schedule this week and it’s decidedly less challenging. Of the 11 games, eight are at home, all of which are against mid- or low-major teams. The Buffs’ shift back into the Big 12 and the loss of a talented core are the likely reasons for the weak non-con slate.

Oklahoma adds again (twice!) and Florida State gets a 2025 commit to re-class and come now.
