The New York Jets took a shot on Tarik Cohen this offseason in part because of a rule change potentially increasing the role of kickoff returns in the league in 2024. Cohen had a history of success as a returner. That, however, was many years and many injuries ago. Cohen's longshot comeback ended officially on Thursday with his retirement. Meanwhile CJ Mosley is seeing his role expand on defense as the coaching staff is more willing to defer to him than in the past.

This time of year is all about getting ready for the season. Interestingly, teams don't always use all the tools at their disposal.
