  • Jahid Ahmed, HDFC Bank's Head of Digital Marketing, on innovative, responsible and effective marketing
    May 28 2024
This episode of the MEDIACAST podcast series from Mediabrief.com features Jahid Ahmed, Senior Vice President and Head of Digital Marketing at HDFC Bank, in conversation with Pavan R Chawla, Founder-Editor of Mediabrief.com. We raise a toast to not just Jahid's innovative End of Scam Sale campaign that raises awareness about digital financial fraud, but also celebrates his excellent and effective approach to Digital Marketing. This episode has been produced as Vodcast on YouTube, and a Podcast available on all top global and Indian podcast directories.

The End Of Scam Sale campaign has stood apart for bearing a crucial cyber-fraud awareness message and warning. Jahid’s strategic approach, leveraging deep fake technology to simulate fraudsters, showcases HDFC Bank's commitment to consumer protection. The campaign is a demonstration of how HDFC Bank and FCB Kinnect beautifully balanced both, creativity and responsibility, in the highly regulated banking industry, and how their collaborative efforts resulted in a thought-provoking, award-worthy campaign that gained widespread reach and positive reception.

So effective was this campaign that it grabbed a million views on launch, and actually had more than 70 media publications reporting, in all seriousness and alarm, that celebrity actor Nora Fatehi had become a victim of cyber fraud at the hands of a fictitious brand! (One, that it was revealed, eventually, had actually been created for the campaign that also deployed deep fake video.)

Jahid also details the creation of deepfakes and fake domains to educate individuals about online fraud, focusing on awareness rather than product sales.

Jahid speaks of the importance of discussion and collaboration between the two partners – HDFC Bank’s Digital Marketing team, and FCB Connect . What shines through is Jahid’s belief that creativity, authenticity, and consumer-centric approaches are crucial to driving impactful campaigns and fostering partnerships.

Jahid also speaks of HDFC Bank's comprehensive digital marketing strategy, which is driven by driving business with by deploying a mix of social media engagement, the empowering of talent with their ongoing learning and development, along with the bank's substantial investment in digital initiatives.
