• How I Lost 400K
    Mar 15 2022

This has to be my most transparent episode yet. I break down how I lost 400K, how it impacted me mentally, having to fire my contractors, and my worst thought coming true the same day my son was being born.

    Key Takeaways?

    1. Whatever your number is for you to feel "safe"...double or triple it.
    2. Don't get stuck in the valley. Pick yourself back up and move forward.
    3. You aren't starting over from scratch. You aren't the same person as when you started. You've grown, learned, and achieved!
    4. If you did it once, you can do it again but better this time.

  • Risk v. Reward
    Nov 29 2021

Do you know when to risk it for the biscuit?

It starts with knowing what your level of responsibility is. Are you young, living at home, and haven't started a career yet? Maybe you're single, have a good paying job and rent. Married with kids and a mortgage? Here are some key takeaways for how to maneuver through risk v. reward in different areas of your life:

    1. What is the reward?
    2. What is the risk?
    3. What am I missing? What don't I know about the situation?

*Bonus* - Doing nothing is a risk as well. Doing nothing is not "safe".

  • Let's Talk About Marriage
    Nov 15 2021

In this episode, Mateo discusses marriage, why he believes many relationships fail, and tips you can use to avoid a failing relationship.

    Show Notes:

America is above a 40% divorce rate. Arranged marriages are around a 4% divorce rate (This can be affected by many reasons)

    Source: https://www.nbcnews.com/better/pop-culture/why-you-should-treat-marriage-more-business-ncna778551

    Definition of vow: noun (dictionary.com)

a solemn promise, pledge, or personal commitment:

a solemn promise made to a deity or saint committing oneself to an act, service, or condition.

    a solemn or earnest declaration.

How are people getting into situations that lead to divorce?

    1. People are disillusioned and not honest with themselves. Lack of responsibility.
    2. Driven by emotion.
    3. Insecure and codependent.
    4. Too many unspoken Expectations and too little communication on things that matters.
    5. No idea what they want.

    1. If you keep entering failed relationships, the problem is you, not them.
    2. You have to stop for a moment and take some responsibility. This should be empowering because it means you have the power to change your outcome.
    3. Who do you know personally (NOT CELEBRITIES), that have a marriage that you would like to model after? Speak with them.
    4. Marriage is not about love….. it is about Duty. You are entering into an agreement with another individual (It is the biggest business deal you will ever make). Decisions made out of emotions have a high chance of being bad decisions. You can’t go into it thinking “If it doesn’t work out, I’ll just get a divorce”.
    5. 50% of your life worth.
    6. Massive time investment (Think the 10,000-hour rule but on steroids).
    7. Saying no to every other person in this world from the moment you say “I Do”.
    8. No longer autonomous like you used to be, you will need to make some compromises.
    9. Insecure and codependent.
    10. You need to do the work to come to a stable point. Go to therapy.
    11. Too many expectations, not enough communication.
    12. Unspoken expectations are like a slow-release poison. The longer they are in your body the worse everything becomes.
    13. Brutally honest conversations - You both need to be able to have completely transparent conversations without fear of emotional backlash.
    14. You need to get clear about what you want.
    15. Stop dating endlessly. You should be able to make a decision within 6 months.
    16. After the first date, it’s time to start seeing if you both have similar morals and asking more deep questions: https://www.patrickbetdavid.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/02/Top_50_Questions_to_

  • What Are You Practicing?
    Nov 1 2021

Are you practicing to become a consumer or a creator? Learn how to make the switch.

    1. Be intentional with what you are searching for.
    2. Take some kind of action on what you have just learned about. The knowledge is many times more likely to stick if you take what you've just learned and apply it.
    3. You will find that taking action will lead to another question…. This is your next intentional search.
    4. Don’t let fear keep you in analysis paralysis or overanalyzing something. Don’t allow insecurity to stop you from taking action.
    5. It doesn’t matter how much you study, you will most likely not be perfect the first time and there are already people out there that are years better than you at what you just learned to do…. Don’t compare yourself to those people, compare yourself to who you were yesterday. Start there.

    4. Weigh the consequences of inaction or choosing one direction over the other
    5. Once you’ve come to a conclusion, move forward with the decision and don’t second guess yourself.
    6. Know that mistakes will come but the best you can do is make an informed decision, when possible. Don’t beat yourself up, and don’t fall into perfectionism.
