• 31: Cousin 15 - Ben

    Devin and Sarah continue their trip in Idaho to visit cousin Ben. They sat down with him and his wife, Kelly, before a wonderful dinner in their home with their family. Surrounded by world maps, pictures of birds, and legos, they began their interview.

    Devin learns of the significance of Ben's name, why he ended up going to law school, his mission, and how Ben and Kelly met and got engaged. Kelly talks about her mission, her work, and all about their children.

    Ben shares some incredible and hilarious stories of his youth with cousins, as well as some early memories that he had with Grandpa Andersen. He shares his thoughts on Grandma Andersen as well as some of our aunts and uncles before sharing even more hilarious stories of riding the bus to American Heritage and hanging out with cousins Rich and Glen.

    Devin shares memories that he gathered from Ben's father and siblings about Ben when he was younger.

    Ben then talks about being a public defender, and Devin peppers him with several questions before he realizes what time it is and ends the episode.

  • 5: Cousin 43 - Kenny Part 2

    Devin and Sarah begin their Idaho Journey by visiting Kenny and Andrea's family in Nampa. Devin felt that Kenny's episode was so short, he deserved a part 2. Also, Devin had forgotten to take a picture with Kenny when they met previously, so that was another good excuse.

    Devin jumps right into it by sharing memories that he collected from Kenny's father and siblings. We learn more about his 3rd grade incident, his seizures, but also how he became Class President, his crazy campaign speech, how he "Broke his face" while skiing, and that he played Linus in the school play.

    Kenny shares a scary but inspiring story of how a part of their home almost burned down.

    Kenny shares his love and appreciation for the podcast, and Devin shares his appreciation at Kenny's appreciation. They end the episode with a reminder about "The Big One" (Andersen Family Reunion) in two years, as well as an update with using Annie as a gestational carrier.

  • 30: Cousin 59- Charity

    Devin and Sarah visit the Bate home in Boise Idaho while visiting a circuit of cousins for the podcast. After briefly visiting with Kenny Kartchner's family, the next stop was Charity's home close by. After a delicious meal with hamburgers and various vegetables and fruits, Charity and Jordan sat down with the Andersens for the podcast.

    Devin asks Charity about her name and the impact it's had on her life. Charity learns her cousin number. She talks about life in the Redd family growing up and then Jordan introduces himself and tells the amazing story of how he and Charity met in high school, dated before and after his mission, and the funny and interesting stories of their first date and proposal.

    Charity shares a story of going to General Conference to see Grandpa Andersen, and going with her mother to an Andersen Sister Sleepover. She tells stories of Grandma Andersen, and how she and Jordan's family were able to visit her before she passed away to learn of their reason for buying the farm.

    Charity shares some hilarious stories of having cousin Stephanie come to visit and family reunions from when we were very young. Devin then shares the many memories and stories he'd collected from her family before moving onto the final topic.

    Charity chose "Connecting with the Savior" for her final topic. She shares why that topic has been on her mind, and Devin asks questions about how they each have been able to connect with Christ in their lives lately.

    Devin, Sarah, and Tim visit cousin Tammy, her husband Nich, and their 4 children in American Fork. After eating a fantastic New Orleans style dinner, Tammy and Nich sit down with the Andersens to record the episode.

    Tammy reveals (to even the surprise of her husband) that her sister, Shirlyn, was the one that named her, and who she was named after. Tammy talks about some experiences from her mission before Nich takes us on wild journey of their courtship, full of ups and downs and perseverance on Nich's part, culminating in a hilarious ending that occurred at one of our family reunions.

    Tammy shares memories and stories from her time living at the farm. Memories of our Grandparents, aunts and uncles, and cousins. Devin then shares the stories and experiences he gathered from Tammy's parents and siblings before moving on to the final topic.

    Tammy chose to discuss how the Lord loves Effort, and then Devin asks a few questions and then shares messages from 2 different conference talks.

    Kathy, her husband Jeremy, and their son, Eli, come to the Andersen's home for dessert before sitting down at their kitchen table for the podcast.

    Kathy is the younger of the twin siblings in the Andelin family, and she and Karen make up the only twins of the 104 grandchildren. Devin learns how to tell Karen and Kathy apart, as well as the answer to many of the questions about what it's like being an identical twin.

    Sarah asks Jeremy about how he and Kathy met, how they got engaged, and about their son Eli. They learn that not a single Andelin in her family has been born in November, and their hoping to break that streak with their next son who is due in the latter part of November.

    Kathy shares memories of aunts, uncles, cousins, and learning to read from Grandma Andersen. Devin then shares many hilarious and interesting stories from Kathy's growing up years.

    The podcast concludes with Kathy and Jeremy talking about their business, Tidey, an incredible company built around the idea of conservationism, self reliance, and using the garbage in Guatemala to make something new.

    Devin, Sarah, and Tim, finish off their trip to Idaho by visiting cousin Laura Cook in Blackfoot Idaho before heading home.

    Laura, her husband Tom, and their 4 children have been living in Idaho for the past 2 years and recently came back from a thrilling, but scary, adventure

    In the Grand Tetons. The Andersen’s have lunch with the Cooks before sitting down to record this episode of the podcast.

    Devin learns about why her parents decided to call her Laura, why she was such a big baby, and who of her siblings she is most like. Tom tells a funny story from his work as a physician’s assistant, as well as how she and Laura met and got engaged before talking about their four children.

    Laura shares memories of Grandma Andersen, the cousins her age, as well as some of the aunts and uncles that lived at the farm while she was growing up.

    Devin then shares with Laura some of the funny and heartwarming memories he collected from her family of Laura when she was younger and living at home both in Utah and Texas. Devin comes up with a way to test how “Texan” Laura really is, and then they conclude the episode by talking about what it’s like breeding dogs.

    Paul learns that he's cousin #53 as well as the cousins who were born the same year as him. Then Paul shares some amazing stories of Andersen family reunions - Water ballooning innocent bystanders, climbing radio towers, and rescuing a man from the Jordanelle Reservoir.

    Devin then shares some pretty incredible and hilarious stories that he collected from Pauls siblings and father about his adventurous and somewhat destructive nature in his youth.

    The episode concludes with them speaking on the blessings of having faithful ancestors, and the blessings we can pass onto our children through our own faithfulness.

    Devin releases a special episode about one of our ancestors, Amy Sumner Porter, as well as a devotional by his father, Tim Andersen, that was recorded in 1993 the year before he passed away.

    Devin tells the incredible stories of both Amy Sumner, as well as the young woman Lydia, and how their lives became forever intertwined. These amazing women pioneers helped to raise our Grandpa Andersen's Great Grandmother. Amy is Grandpa Andersen's Maternal Great, Great, Grandmother.

    Devin then shares his experience that happened at the Andersen family reunion on July 24th, 2024, and his hopes for "The Big One" that he aspires to have happen on July 24th, 2026.

    Devin then shares the entire recording of his father's devotional "The Signs of the Times" before sharing one last message before the end of the episode.
