This is a passionate solo episode, which you won't want to miss!!!

"CYA" has been a buzz term in EMS for years. This mantra has been shoved down our throats over and over and over. What's the reality of CYA?

When CYA becomes your priority, you focus more on CYA than on actually doing the right thing. So even in the context of clinical thoroughness, a "CYA heavy" approach can go to far.

We've always heard "That person has a target on their back" or "That person has a list of people they don't like". It's a dirty secret of EMS that needs to be talked about. So that's what we are going to do today. :)

There is a right way and wrong way to be diplomatic.

When conflict is centered on operations and clinical care, the NUMBER 1 guiding influence should be: what is in the best interest of the patients. Period the end.

When the conflict is centered around intra-agency issues, then the guiding influence in that conflict resolution should be what makes the team the most effective. No efficient, but effective.

Efficiency and effectiveness don't always work together. Focus on the people, not just numbers.
