• My Story - Depression and Mental Struggles of 2021
    Apr 6 2022

2021 was the most difficult year of my entire life when it comes to softball. I lost who I was, forgot how to pitch, and was so far in my head that I began to fall into the darkest place of my life. We start off by talking about how exactly I got to the point, and then continue on into discussing the emotions I felt during that time period. How I treated my teammates, my friends and family, all of it. We discuss a few incidents in particular that occurred during the season and how they allowed me to realize how far I had fallen into that dark space, and then what it took for me to not only get through it but out of it as well, all in time for my 5th and final year of college softball.

  • Owning Who YOU Are as an Athlete
    Mar 31 2022

Welcome back! After a brief break to wrap up my undergrad, we're back with the Pitch, Not So Perfect podcast and we're ready to roll! We start by discussing the past few weeks of season, going into detail about the game winning strikeout against Cal in game 3 of the series. We talk about how it happened, what it felt like, and how to be prepared for moments like that in the future. We then move on to talk about as athletes, but specifically as pitchers, it is hard sometimes to fully be confident in ourselves and the things we are good as when we're constantly comparing ourselves to other pitchers. Maybe you throw 70mph, maybe you don't. Maybe you have some awesome movement, maybe you don't. But who cares? Each pitcher is uniquely different and we're going to talk about why none of it matters as long as you are fully confident in who YOU are on the mound.

As usual, let's start off by running through the weekend, and talk about who's up next for the Ducks to play this season. We just got back from Texas and are heading straight to California this week for the Marry Nutter Classic Tournament, which is always a big one.

After we run through that, it's time to dive in a little deeper. Let's talk mental game. We go over how important it is to start focusing on that early, how to focus on it, and a few different tips and tricks on how to a) not be a jerk, b) handle things when they don't necessarily go your way, and c) how to best prepare for the game and what it brings, both the good and the bad.

If you have any questions, comments or suggestions that you'd like answered or talked about in any future episodes, feel free to message them to me on my Instagram or Twitter! Talk to y'all next week!
