    In this month's episode Prof. David Spicer is joined by Dr Amizan Omar and Kamran Rashid as they explore social enteprises and investment with particular focus on the Bradford district. The episode delves into the role played by the Local Access Bradford District in supporting social innovation whilst provides insight into the need for social impact, measures of success for social enterprise and how organisations are playing their role to break barriers to ensure support and funding is available to all.

    Kamran Rashid is the CEO and cofounder of the Impact Hub Bradford and a passionate and committed advocate and worker for social enterprise in the city and beyond. Kamran is also founder of The Socially Conscious Company, a private training and consultancy company, specialising in youth culture, diversity & inclusion and specialist engagement and a Non-Executive Director of the Leeds Local Enterprise Partnership and of Bradford City of Culture 2025 Trust.

    Dr Amizan Omar is Associate Professor in Strategic Management, and Director of Accreditation in the Faculty of Management, Law and Social Sciences here at the University. Her research is interdisciplinary in nature focusing on the institutionalisation of digital technology in organisations, particularly the role of digital technologies and their interplays with institutional actors and structures in the context of public sector service transformation, and their implication on tackling managerial and societal issues, for sustainable societies.

    Paul Stallard is CEO of Hurndall-Stallard Associates Limited, a business strategy, business development and marketing communications consultancy specialising in retail financial services. Paul works with top UK and international brands in all aspects of financial services and has a particular interest in the role of technology in marketing.

    Dr Oluwaseun Olabode is Assistant Professor of Marketing and International Business and Director of Undergraduate Studies here in the School of Management. Her main research interests are disruption, innovation, organizational strategy, international business, and marketing management and has commercial experience in both the UK and Nigeria.

The conversation covers a range of topics including academic entrepreneurship and how you can get started as a entrepreneur and our guests explore the idea of demystifying the phrase "not for profit".

    Steffan Lemke-Elms is a serial social entrepreneur, chef and co-director of Glasbren a non-profit social enterprise farm reimaging our local food systems in Wales. His work as a social and sustainable entrepreneur has included auctioning celebrities’ shoes to raise money for children in Africa, work for the Eden project, recycling discarded wellies left behind at Glastonbury through his charity ‘Reboot’ and he established The Warren, the Sustainable Restaurant Association’s ‘Best Local Restaurant’ in Wales in 2019-20.

    Vadim Grinevich is a Professor of Entrepreneurship and Small Business Innovation and the Head of the Research Cluster on Transformative Entrepreneurship and Small Businesses here at the University of Bradford School of Management. Vadim’s key expertise is in the field of academic entrepreneurship and innovation and in digitally enabled sustainable entrepreneurship. His research develops an inclusive approach which helps shed light on the nature and extent of entrepreneurial activities by academics with different intersectional profiles.
