    This week our guest is Perri Williams. Perri represented Ireland as a Race Walker in the 10k event at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics.

    We spoke about how she realised a childhood dream to reach the Olympic games, her love of coaching, and her predictions on the current and emerging talent in Irish Athletics ahead of Paris 2024.   • Lianne Van Dijk - Beara Way Ultra, BMF Winner & Dealing with Setbacks

Since moving to Ireland from the Netherlands, Lianne has become a regular on podium at races across the country including The Beara Way Ultra, The Wicklow Way, The BMF event in Waterville where she was crowned the winner after completing 4 43km loops along the Kerry Way making her the last runner remaining.

    We spoke about how Lianne deals with the mental and physical challenges of long distance running, why she loves racing in the hills of Ireland and how she deals with setbacks and lots more.

  • Tom Owens - Hellevation Founder, 100 Mile Club & Team Ireland

    Tom Owens rediscovered the joys of running several years ago just before lockdown. After completing his first 50k for charity, Tom caught the Ultra Running bug and began training for bigger challenges and has completed the Tralee 100k, over 100 miles in 24 hours at the Wexford Festival of Running, running for Team Ireland at the Four Nations Trophy and the 107 mile Dublin to Belfast Ultra. In this episode we spoke about Toms progress over the last few years and also creating Hellevation, the first Backyard Ultra event in Munster.

  • Emma Stuart - Maurice Mullins 50k Winner, Trail Tips & Running for Ireland

    Emma Stuart only started running in 2018 and since then has become one of the top females in the Ultra Running scene. She has won some of the biggest races in Europe including the 100-mile Arc of Attrition, 100-mile Ultra-Trail Snowdonia and the
    205 mile Tor des Geants. She recently shared a podium with Courtney Dauwalter when she finished 3rd in the North Face Transgrancanaria race. She also won her first race on home soil in Ireland in March at the Maurice Mullins IMRA 50k which qualified her to run for Team Ireland at the European Off-Road Running Championships in May.

    In this episode we spoke about Emma's rise from non-runner to regular race winner, her trail running tips including mastering the downhills and her experiences at some of the toughest races in the world.

  • Kevin Webber - 'Against All Odds' Running With Terminal Cancer

    Diagnosed with terminal prostate cancer in 2014 and given just two years to live, Kevin Webber started a brutal regime of chemotherapy and radiotherapy. He also started running and refused to stop.

    Across the deserts of the Sahara, the snow and ice of the Arctic and the jungles of Cambodia, Kevin's journey has taken him from the depths of despair to achieving the impossible. On this episode Kevin describes the emotions of discovering he was terminally ill and the impact on his family and friends.

    He talks honestly about his cancer, his treatment and making every day count while staring death in the face. The training, the marathons, the injuries, the physical and mental challenges of living with terminal cancer are all described in Kevin's own words. He has never stopped dreaming and living his life the best way he can. This is one man's story of running to stay alive which will hopefully inspire you to live a bit more too.
