• Mom Burn Out With A Side of Homeschool chit chat with Dayna Abraham
    Jul 17 2024

In this episode, I chat with Dayna Abraham, founder of Calm the Chaos Parenting, about the all-too-real struggle of mom burnout. Dayna shares her personal journey from being a teacher to a mom dealing with her own child's challenges in school, which led her to start documenting her experiences online. We dive into what mom burnout really looks like, how it affects both parents and kids, and some practical ways to manage it.

Dayna offers some great insights on creating sustainable self-care practices, the importance of being open with your kids about your struggles, and how to work with your partner to lighten the load. We talk about outsourcing tasks when possible, simplifying routines, and giving ourselves permission to let some things go.

One of my favorite takeaways is Dayna's "parking lot" concept for worries - a way to acknowledge our concerns without letting them consume us daily. Whether you're in the thick of burnout or just feeling the pressure of mom life, this conversation is full of relatable moments and actionable advice to help you find some calm in the chaos.

    Hope you enjoyed this episode!

  • Navigating Grief With Children with Caitlin Sigouin
    Jul 3 2024

In this episode, I sit down with therapist and author Caitlin Sigouin to tackle the heavy but important topic of helping children understand and cope with death. As a mom who recently lost my grandma and previously lost my dad, I share my own experiences navigating grief with my kids. Caitlin offers fantastic insights on how children process loss differently than adults, and gives practical tips for talking to kids about death in an age-appropriate way.

We chat about using everyday moments in nature to introduce the concept, recommend some great children's books on the topic, and discuss how to balance your own grief as a parent while supporting your child. Caitlin also shares a sneak peek of her upcoming children's book "A Rainbow of Feelings" which aims to help kids express all their emotions.

This conversation gets real about a tough subject, but Caitlin's expertise and compassion make it super approachable. Whether you're dealing with a loss or just want to be prepared, you'll come away with helpful strategies for having these important talks with your little ones. • Managing A Household: How to control the chaos and enjoy life
    May 15 2024

Hey everyone, it's Jessica from She's Got It Together! In this week's episode, Samantha and I had a blast chatting with Jennifer Roskamp, a homeschooling mom of nine and grandma (or "Gigi") of two. Jennifer shared her insights on managing a large household, keeping things running smoothly, and still finding time for self-care.

We dove into how Jennifer handles schedules, chores, and the inevitable chaos that comes with a big family. Her key tips? Plan in pencil, be flexible, and involve the whole family in household tasks. She also emphasized the importance of making time for yourself, even if it's just 10 minutes, because burning the candle at both ends doesn't do anyone any good.

Whether you've got one kid or ten, you'll definitely pick up some strategies to simplify your life and be a more intentional mom. So grab a cup of coffee, pop in your earbuds, and join us for this fun, down-to-earth conversation with the amazing Jennifer Roskamp!

Want more from Jennifer? Well, you are in luck. She will be hosting a FREE online summit called Simplify Your Summer. • Sunshine Guilt: It's a Real Thing
    Apr 24 2024

Hey guys, it's Samantha here! In this episode, my sister Jessica and I dive deep into a topic that hit me like a ton of bricks: sunshine guilt. You know, that feeling when it's a gorgeous sunny day outside, but you're just not in the mood to soak it all in? Like, you kinda wanna stay in your PJs, curl up on the couch, and not feel bad about it? Yup, that's sunshine guilt for ya!

We chat about how this guilt seems to stem from growing up hearing our parents tell us to get our butts outside on nice days. And don't even get me started on the added pressure of being a mom now - how can I not take my kiddo out to play?! But sometimes, you just need a down day, even if the weather is screaming "get out here!"

Jess and I also get into how living in a state with actual seasons (hey there, Michigan!) makes those sunny days feel like precious commodities we gotta take advantage of. But when you're on vacay in a sunny spot? Oh man, the guilt can be real when all you wanna do is chill inside!

So grab a drink, get cozy, and join us as we give you full permission to embrace those "blah" feelings, even on the sunniest of days. Trust me, you're so not alone in this sunshine guilt thing!

    Hope you enjoyed this episode!
