  • A Summer to Forget for US Soccer
    Aug 5 2024

It has been a difficult summer for US soccer and one to forget. The USMNT suffered a humiliating group exit in the Copa America, which the US hosted. The USYNT U23 featured in their first Olympics since 2008 and their first knockout stage appearance since 2000. It quickly became disappointing when the U23 team lost to Morocco 0-4 in the Quarterfinals. The U20 had a great group stage in the CONCACAF U20 Championship but struggled to convince the nations of the confederation that they are a championship contender. This led to them losing to Mexico in the Final after a controversial goal, ending our hopes of winning the trophy for a 4th consecutive time.

There are some positives to take away. USSF finally decided to part ways with Gregg Berhalter and currently looking for a manager from Europe. Both the U23 and U20 did not take the best possible eligible players, giving us hopes still for the next 2 generations. Players like Johnny Cardoso, Malik Tillman, and Jalen Neal did not take part in the Olympics. As for the U20, the team was missing the likes of Joshua Wynder, Cole Campbell, and Diego Kochen. There are still plenty of players who can make a future impact for the USMNT than the players who were featured in both youth tournaments.

  • Weston McKennie to Aston Villa in Swap Deal?
    Jul 12 2024

Weston McKennie is heavily linked to Aston Villa in a swap deal after rejecting a new contract from Juventus. Could we see McKennie return to the EPL? Paxten Aaronson is expected to go on another loan after his half season loan with Dutch club Vitesse. Another loan might just be what Paxten needs and a return to the Eredivisie would be a good option for him. We may see Richard Ledezma return to MLS. He is currently linked with LAFC, RSL, and Portland. A return to the US could be the right move for Ledezma to revive his career. There is updated news on Rokas Pukstas. Pukstas has requested a transfer, and it has been reported that Hadjuk Split has given West Ham the go ahead to sign the young American. Lastly, there will be another American in the 2. Bundesliga. Santiago Castañeda has signed with Paderborn from 3. Liga club Duisburg.

  • Is the End Near for Gregg Berhalter?
    Jul 12 2024

On June 8th, the USMNT had a friendly against Colombia and was crushed 1-5, a week before the Copa America. Most of our players, who did well for their domestic clubs this season, looked awful. This was the worst defeat under Gregg Berhalter bringing his record to 6-0-4 since his rehiring. Changes need to be made after the Copa America, and one of them needs to be the manager if we want to be competitive at the 2026 WC on home soil. The USMNT were not the only the US soccer team to play over the weekend. The U23 team had a closed-door match against Japan and the U19/20 defeated Argentina 1-0
