  • Guilt, Instability and Avoidance. How it Affects Our Goals and Commitment.
    Oct 10 2023

Meeting your needs as an adult may seem like second nature. In my experience, it seems that this is not the case. Depending on the environment you grew up in, the situation, and family dynamic that mirrored your childhood, this greatly affects how you go about your day, your career, and how you commit to your goals and desires. I have realized that even if we try our hardest, push ourselves beyond belief, and run as far away as we can from our problems, they will always be reflected in our environment and what we manifest in our lives.

The subconscious mind is the most powerful part of our makeup. This invisible presence plays an incredible role in our reality, and unfortunately, we are completely out of touch with how it affects us on a day-to-day basis. The self-limiting beliefs and conditioning created in our early stages of life affect us every single day. If we ignore the patterning that was created and try to bypass those beliefs, we will constantly be repeating patterns and manifesting situations in our lives to confront the same fears and beliefs that were created. By being honest with ourselves and surrendering to the idea that we might not know what is going on in our subconscious mind, that the belief system created through our upbringing may be running the show, we can be honest with our reality and have the awareness to make a change.

It can take years of repeated issues and struggle to bring you to a breaking point where you cannot take it any longer. It takes so much work for our consciousness to decide to make a change. The beauty of neuroscience and epigenetics is the ability we have to rewire neural pathways to create change at a subconscious level and shift our reality now, even if the situation you're confronting is extremely triggering. Realizing that we have the power within to change our reality starts with realizing that we may know nothing at all.

Right now, I am on the path of committing to my subconscious, confronting my fear of stability, and understanding why I find it so difficult to stay focused and feel extreme guilt when committing to my goals.

Trauma can affect us in an array of ways, big or small. We all have elements of ourselves that are trying to get our attention, to bring us back to the authentic beings we were at birth. I hope this episode can help you shine a light on which area of your life wishes to come forward and how you can focus on your inner world to change your outer environment and achieve everything your soul desires.

Always with lots and lots of love,

  • Navigating Grief, Acting & the World of Creativity with Jess Sofarnos - ATTUNEMENT
    Aug 28 2023

I had the honour of chatting with Jess Sofarnos, a new friend and a true mirror of my experience through grieving. We met in a familiar setting, under very unfamiliar circumstances. Both our Mums had just unexcepectly passed, and we met at a party in the Summer, both trying to articulate the indescribable emotions that grief presented us with. The memory is similar to a mirage, much like the emotional roller coaster that is present in the early stages of grieving. A beautiful moment, to share, which led to my eagerness to hold space for her story on the podcast.

Jess is an actor, film maker, all-round beautiful human, and creative powerhouse. I am so glad we had the chance to discuss, her new short film "Good Grief", navigating the grief journey while pursuing creative pursuits and what her life looks like now, almost three years since her Mother's passing.

I couldn't recommend her new short film "Good Grief" enough, it is an immaculate representation of the inner compass of one that is grieving and how it can jolt you out of the reality that you once knew, catapulting you into a whole new world that you have never seen before. From the overwhelm, and the confusing spectrum of emotion that is felt, to finding solace in strangers, this short is worthy of its own ten-season, series.

If you want to find out more about Jess and her beautiful work, all of her links are below and ready for you to get lost in her creative perspective and soulful expression:

  • Trying To Embrace My Insecurities - TRANSCENDENCE
    Aug 22 2023

Is there something that you have always felt shame about but never wanted to talk about it because it made it real? This is something I have always felt in relation to certain insecurities about myself. I would speak so negatively about myself, to myself, bullying and shaming the way I looked, trying to crush any self worth or confidence I had, and make my insecurities my primal focus and thought.

I recorded this episode about a month ago, and have been putting off uploading it as the fear of exposing myself and how I feel about myself, is a bit too real. No one wants to not like parts of themselves. No one wants to admit they don't like how they look, but no one, including me, wants to be owned by the parts of myself which put me down, make me feel small, and would rather hide in a corner and hope no one ever looked in their direction.

So I just thought I'd put it out there, let it be free, and see how that makes me feel. The relationship we have to our bodies, our features, our faces, is a tale we have seen through the ages, we know that it isn't nice to be mean to ourselves, we always bring others up when they experience these insecurities, insisting "No, what are you talking about? I would never notice that about you?" or " You have nothing to worry about, you're beautiful", These statements, yes can feel nice, however they never feel true when you are in a state of hatred to oneself. It almost feels embarrassing that someone would lie to you and know they they are just "trying to be nice". I find the duality in this experience to be fascinating, as it underlines how much everyone is exisiting in their own reality, their own reality, created by their mind.

I think part of me didn't want to put this episode out because it meant that "I am not allowed to change a part of myself that I'm insecure about if I say it online" and the narrative of "you can't change your mind" and "you're a hippocratic" start playing out in my thoughts.

I am not sure if I will choose to get plastic surgery for anything in my future, and I don't think there is a yes or no path, right or wrong highway, that works for anyone. I think it what really matters is how you communicate with your self, how you lift yourself up, and how you can support every part of you that needs your attention. However that looks, however that sounds, the commitment to nurturing your inner being is what matters most.

If you feel like this episode resonates and helps you or another in any way, please share and reach out as we would love to share your journey in our future episodes.

    Lots of love,

    Mim
