  • Michael Church from The Rookeepers
    Feb 17 2021

In this episode I caught up with Michael Church who is the owner of The Roo Keepers. The Roo Keepers is a mobile zoo from Mount Egerton in VIC, Australia, who provides environmental education through wildlife incursions across Victoria.

In between the sound of Michael’s koalas munching away on their dinner, we spoke about so much in this jam packed podcast but one of my main takeaways was the impact of a choice to invest in his own professional development and how that helped him to more than double his profits of his mobile zoo.

In this episode I speak with Paula from the Ballarat Centre of Music and the Arts, also known as BCMA. Paula started the BCMA over 25 years ago and over the span of those years Paula had 5 children. Paula has some incredible insights to share about business leadership, about scaling your business and about juggling your personal life along the way.

We talked a little bit about those challenging years balancing a growing business with the little ones and about the challenges of the past year with COVID and how her business has adapted to teach music, dance and the performing arts over zoom. We also spoke about the process of hiring a business manager and when to decide to bring in back up to support you.

  • Colossal Barbers
    Dec 6 2020

In this episode I speak with Phil and Madeline who recently opened a barber shop near Ballarat, Victoria called Colossal Barbers. We talk about their experience launching a new business and the various aspects and considerations.

One of the key insights is their approach to business, which I think is best summarised by the statement that they don’t believe they are selling a haircut, they’re selling a subscription of haircuts.

If you’d like to get yourself a haircut subscription, pop into 6 Raydon Court Delacombe VIC but don’t forget to book in advance! For more information check out colossal.barbers.ballarat on Instagram or Facebook.
