• Kathryn Mancewicz Discusses Literacy Intervention

    Kathryn Mancewicz, MS, CCC-SLP is a bilingual speech-language pathologist and owner of Moving Forward Speech Therapy. Kathryn received her Master’s degree with distinction from the University of New Mexico, where she was a member of the CLASS for ALL bilingual emphasis program. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders and Spanish from the University of Minnesota - Duluth.

    Kathryn has experience providing therapy to children and adults of all ages in both English and Spanish. Her passion is for providing literacy intervention for struggling readers and writers via telepractice. She uses a combination of intervention methods including the Science of Reading, Speech to Print, and Orton Gillingham based programs to design an intervention plan tailored to each child.

    When she isn’t providing therapy, Kathryn loves to be outdoors. She likes to ski, rock climb, and go on hikes with her husband, Joel, and her Miniature Australian Shepherd, Luna. She also loves to read and believes you’re never too old for a good story!

  • Jen Latshaw Discusses Serving Students Who Are Deaf/Hard-of-Hearing

    Jen is an experienced Teacher of the Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing. She graduated from The College of New Jersey, where she received a Bachelor’s of Science in Deaf Education, Elementary Education, and English, as well as a Master of Arts in Teaching. She has worked as both a classroom teacher and an itinerant teacher, and has used a variety of communication methods to meet the unique needs of her students. After working in schools for several years, Jen made the switch to telepractice in order to be able to spend more time with her family. Now, she enjoys having the opportunity to make connections with people across the country while teaching remotely.

    She hopes to encourage people to consider telepractice as a viable option so that more students who are deaf/hard-of-hearing can have better access to teachers of the deaf/hard-of-hearing.

Prior to moving into academia, Robertson spent 20 years in the public schools as a broad range SLP and Administrator and she continues to be a strong advocate and innovator in areas related to schools-based intervention. Dr. Robertson’s has received the Editors Award for Language by the Journal of Speech-Language-Hearing Research as well as the Annie Glenn National Award for Leadership in Language and Literacy. The 2019 President of ASHA, Shari is committed to helping her colleagues thrive in their personal and professional pursuits and continues to spread the message of the importance of making effective communication, a human right, accessible and achievable for all.
