  • 414: The Codependency Revolution with Ross Rosenberg
    Jul 11 2024

In this episode, I sit down with Ross Rosenberg, a global thought leader in codependency, narcissism, and trauma treatment. We discuss how traditional approaches often missed the mark and led to stigmatization. Understanding the roots of these behaviors — often linked to childhood trauma — is crucial for breaking free from unhealthy relationship patterns.

Ross also introduces his innovative Human Magnet Syndrome, explaining why certain personality types are irresistibly drawn to narcissistic partners.

It's a hopeful and eye-opening discussion for anyone struggling with codependency. I talk about overcoming my own codependent tendencies in my marriage, demonstrating that change is possible with mutual growth and self-love.

We touch on Ross's Relationship Compatibility Theory, and by the end of the episode, you'll have a new perspective on codependency and be equipped with actionable insights for your own self-love and recovery journey!

In this episode, you will hear:
    • The concept of Self-Love Deficit Disorder and the inadequacies of traditional codependency treatments.
    • Early misinterpretations and the role of childhood attachment trauma in developing codependent behaviors.
    • Why certain personality types are drawn to narcissistic partners and how this impacts relationships.
    • How to transform codependent tendencies into balanced partnerships.
    • Tips on resolving core shame, supporting each other, and maintaining fulfilling relationships through the Relationship Compatibility Theory.
    • The importance of understanding and addressing the deep-seated trauma that underlies codependency for effective healing.

Love hearing you and Grahams talks!

I love this show and have listened to EVERY episode ever made! Michelle has helped me through so many tough situations throughout my life! Thank you Michelle for guiding me to my adult chair! The adult chair has taught me how to fill a void that I have had in my life for so long. I use to be an angery person but through the adult chair I have found personal freedom from anger. The podcast did not take my anger away but it showed me how to be grounded in my adult chair and with that comes self control, freedom, and overall happiness in my life and in my relationships. I love when you and Graham do a podcast together by the way. Those podcast are really easy to apply to my relationship and give both perspectives of the relationship.
